Farelands: Review

Farelands.

There's an onlinestartlocal!

However, I don't think it's a very good onlinestartlocal compared to most. It's a small room that asks you to choose your class: Mage, Warrior, Wizard, Dark Wizard, Demon, or Paladin.
(What's the difference between Mage and Wizard?).

When you touch the NPC for a class, it says "Description here". It says that for all of the classes. And at least have different gifs for the different classes, they are all represented here by gray statue gifs.

After that you are warped to another room where you pick your nation, 5 possible nations. Again, none of them have descriptons for them.

Now I am out on the actual world. The playerworld is about 300 levels big. Only 4 or 5 of them have content in them. The rest are blank, created by the level generator.

However, the owner has explained this to me. He want's the players to create their own houses and buildings to go there.

This isn't enough though. More will still need to be done. Make a few towns on your own(The levels that the owner did make look pretty cool,), add a few quests. There will need to be some inside levels, and a quest or two, and some NPCs you can interact with.

The owner will at least need to add some tiling to the levels he want's to leave open for player creations. Add some trees to the levels, some grass tiles, etc.

Overall I think this server has some good potential, the few levels that were done, were done well. But the rest can't just be left blank to hope that players will fill it up with good quality levels.
If the staff keep working on it, I think it will soon have a good chance.

You will soon Receive a Special Forum PM from Stefan regarding the Ownership of the whole of graal.

You will also meet Psyker in Real life and Fight for the Head PW spot.

You will then go on to win the Lottery and become a Proffesional Bus Cleaner.

A wizard and a mage are pretty much the same. Although if you want to get techinical, you could probably group mages into a different class by saying mages use more offense magic while wizards use more defense magic, but still, in reality, the definition for a wizard, and the defintion for a mage, is practically one and the same.

Nice reviews but don't comment on the graphics too much becasue they might be temporary =\. Also, Why must a server have quests to get online? 2k2 has none, yet they can get online! (j/k). Maybe you should have a talk with the creator while you are reviewing their world, you could ask questions with him about WHY this is this way and WHY this is that way.

Not that I am saying this server should have passed, but the content of the review does not infact reflect any real content of the server (PRehaps their was none tho)

Tom84710 06-13-2002 11:22 AM

A mage is a summoner, and summons mosts of it's defenses, while wizards use direct damage spells.

ParadiseAdmin3 06-13-2002 12:06 PM

Aren't there enough playerworlds with classes?

Well technically a Mage doesnt summon. Thats a conjurer, which is a type of Mage.
-----

You shouldnt use both Mage and Wizard. You should use Sorceror and Mage.

Different magic classes (according to offical AD&D rules):

Cleric (Priest)
Druid (Priest)
Monk (Priest)
Sorceror (Wizard)
Mage (Wizard)

Or if you want to be super advanced and have 20 odd classes you can go into things like

Shapeshifter (Druid)
and
Conjurer (Mage)

ParadiseAdmin3 06-14-2002 04:28 AM

A lot of servers has plenty of classes like old Delteria. I think they'll get the classes back up again I think but I don't even play there :P. Use big words if you want classes!!!! like: Bombast

Ok how would you know? Mages or Wizards aren't real. So you can't say "technically." Lol.:megaeek:

Well that is part of judgement. If you aren't going to bother to see if there are any Playerworld guidelines, you probably aren't going to be dedicated enough to keep it running.

Might be better if the same classes weren't on every single server.

ROFLMAO

I made that class and nation selection room for them and told them "You didn't give me descriptions of any kind so you'll have to put them in your self..." I even put "Description here" in the code to make it really really simple and they still goofed it up... Btw that was thier test for me to be NAT admin... i quit a couple days later

<EDIT>
No, i didn't make the crappy level they're in either ;)
that was one of thier LATs cause i was lazy and just did the script

Nishoku:

Because Stefan's greedy and whenever you submit something to him it becomes graalonlines property, no longer yours. So you no longer "own" that property.
