Auto File Download?

Well, I just think there should be a option in serveroptions called "FileVersion".

Basicly, whenever someone connects to the server it will check FileVersion, if it doesn't match a local file version, then it scans the WHOLE ftp for GANI, PNG, GIF, and other such files other then .NW and .GRAAL. If then downloads EVERY file with the specified file types, and acts as a auto updater.

A screen should pop up in the beginning to, telling you the status of the downloading.

Id ust sooner use a free installer program and then distribute your gifs that you want downloaded in a setup.exe and they could extract them to graal webgifs. easy huh?

"Full Install" option - downloads all the pngs and mngs and wavs and midis and .code (compiled levels) on the server via the installer to cut down on loadtime in-game.

If we could do that, we could sell CDs with everything already installed. ^_~

So basicly you want a load bar to come up when you log on a server and your file version for that server doesn't match the one in the server options. Then it downloads all these files before hand, and then it lessens the lag?

Put the burden on the setup server...hm, could work...all graphics and such more than a month old are moved to setup, if you're missing any of Last Month's Graphics, you gotta download them before connecting....

I believe honds make a program that downloads all the graphics on a server. Hmm...

should try to get that from him....

i think there should be a command that checks for an updated file.... like

updatefile mymap.png;

if the one one the server is newer then it gets downloaded
