Character Selection

Nobody listens to my ideas, so maybe someone here can refine this until Stefan himself deems it worthy - which seems to be the only way anything gets up.

Instead of setting hair color at the barber shop, and since kingdom selection's getting phased out anyway, replace the start thing with character selection.
Gender, Head, Hair color, Clothes - that's what you're stuck with for the rest of the game. If you start out as a fishman, you stay a fishman. If you start out a blonde, you stay a blonde. You can change hair styles and go bald and all that at the barber shop, you can find spare clothes in various places and use it like a hat to change into your formal clothes, your work clothes, whatever...point is, I gotta agree with Pir about "hairs red 4" is a lousy way to do things...spoken commands get old fast.
The way I'd do things given infinite power, infinite skill and infinite time, you get knocked out in regular battle, you die from special events (executions, maybe in especially important battles, resetting instead of waiting for rescue while knocked out) - then you create a new character, who finds your old character's corpse and takes their stuff.
But if I've been saying it this long without result...euh.

that would indeed bring graal to a new level with real character selection also you should have a starter 15-25 attribute points to goto the stats on 2k2, leveling up would or should give you 3-5 points for each level

Sounds nice.
I dunno about making a new character though.
I read in another thread doing it the way OU does it when you die you become a ghost and you have to go back to your body to be brought back to life. But while your corpse is just lying there people could come and loot it.

takes a chisel and chisels tyhm's skull to say: "Alpha Testing"

Tyhm 06-01-2002 12:57 PM

Yes! I get that G2K2 is young and not yet in any way representative of some mythical finished product! I just have an interest in said finished product kicking enough butt that Stefan will say "My work here is done" and come back to patch the myriad security breaches in Classic's code!

BlKnight 06-02-2002 02:47 PM

When Stefan says my work here is done to a server you can bet it will become a corrupt power pit in which there are over twice as many personal toy npcs for staff which in no way are needed to do their job as npcs public.

TheFrozenFiend 06-02-2002 04:52 PM

Good idea.

They should change the head stuff though.

Sethead = head shape
Seteyes = eye shape and colour
Setmouth = mouth shape and colour
Setnose = nose shape and colour
Setears = ear shape and colour

Also hair, and other stuff, colour should be set with a RGB value.

eg. 200,40,140 for a pink colour
170,170,170 for a grey colour

More variety then

Why? Stefan doesn't make those NPCs.
