Hey. I've pretty much been developing this solo for a while now. The map is pretty horrible:

Whats your point?

If you already know it's horrible, why do you want us to rate it?

Maybe he/she wanted to come on the forums and say "LOOK AT ME! I'M RETARDED!"

lol. Add in towns, A LOT more detail, more curveyness to the coastlines, don't make it so maze like, nothing makes me more pissed off then spending a half hour wondering through mindless, boaring mazes that lead nowhere! UGH! Im mad now! I gotta break sumptin! *picks up TV and throws it out the window* Now look what u made me do!

But, that is the way it is because I have only spent 1% of my time on levels. The rest went into scripting, and GFX design. Here, that's a basic screen of somewhere around Ganthria:

Map's don't say anthing these days, they take 10min to make with the levelgen, and all look the same, unless you've made your map by hand, or done something unique with it, why show it?

You want us to rate you PW? Post screenshots, tell us what it's about, give us an example of what players will be able to do on your PW etc...

It's not the "ART" of level making or NPC scripting that makes a PW good, it's the creativity to it, and the quaility of it (e.g. do your NPC scripts WORK, when you walk through the door of a house do you end up where you expect to be in the next room, or 5 tiles away from the door... etc...)

Urizen

Those small trees are stolen from a RPGMaker tileset, and the large ones are probably stolen too.

New Tree and Rock graphics are ok... nothing spectacular... The level in general is very plain and repititious, why does it exsist? is there a point to it? Even with new graphics not an attractive level. I'm not seeing any buildings, or these so-called NPC's that you speak of...

Urizen :(

zallus-k 05-26-2002 12:24 PM

Oh, and anyway...

That map dosen't even represent the map that will exist when the server is done. You see, that 400 level map will be replaced by a 4096 level one pretty soon, and then I'll have to completely start over with level creation. I posted that map because that's the first thing people do when they're introducin their PW, they show the map. I agree that IT'S retarded, but I showed it for formal reasons only, I would never be stupid enough to call that my map.

Also, as to the rapid blaze, no, that level is just outside the main town of Ganthria. By NPCs, I was mainly referring to 'Job' NPCs, and the System Script which has features I am currently unwilling to discuss. I don't know of an RPGMaker, and have never used it. All the scripts work completely fine. That level is just an undeveloped peice of what will soon be town, so it just looks like a truly nature-specific forest. Almost all the levels are like this right now, but that's just because I haven't gotten around to creating anything for a level to hold.

iniquitus 05-26-2002 12:29 PM

LMAO!

4096 Level Map? Thats so cute.

I hate to break it to you, but your chances of EVER getting a playerworld are so slim you've hit exponential numbers (read 0.1e-4096% chance)

Formal thing? LOL.

Stop waisting everyones time and come back when you have something to show thats yours, and maybe even slightly impressive.

Urizen :p

Zolrieg 05-26-2002 12:31 PM

just call it Treetopia and you may have something! christ, that's the only thing I see - trees. you could add some mountains, streams, or something. I'd never play a server like that, every level is practically the same.

zallus-k 05-26-2002 12:37 PM

Sigh... I know that there's nothing good about what I'm presenting to you, but I just did this to say that I'm starting a PW. I need a good team before anything you would rate well could be created. When I do get staff, which I hope to be soon, good things will start to be done.

Maze, uh... Beachbum, was it? Please elaborate on what you'd consider a good PW world map, as you are the only one who actually told me what exactly was wrong.

iniquitus 05-26-2002 12:43 PM

Staff? Most playerworlds are built up by one or two people until it gets online.

Why not polish up a good level from you PW, post a screenshot, and say "Hey! I'm working on a new playerworld! It's gonna be called <blah blah blah>; The PW will be <description>. I'm looking for people to help out with levels, graphics, npc's etc... if you want to help, and think you are good enough, PM me. Thanks."

Instead of posting an ugly map and saying "Rate my PW. My map is horrible."

Poor PR skills if you ask me (PR is a big part of running a PW btw.)

Urizen :o
