All of a sudden since the new Graal2001 version has come out, I LAG! I never lagged before but now it is lag. Why? I have cable, which never lagged before but now does. Like if I touch a sign, there is a delay before it reads it.

manton 03-18-2001 03:36 AM

Thats because signs are server-side now, along with doors and some other things

SSmutz 03-18-2001 04:34 AM

it lag for me if i have Directx turned on, bt if i tunr it off, everything's fine

Falcor 03-18-2001 09:57 PM

hehhe lag

You should see ToT.. Our signs dont even work! lol

FatherDante 03-18-2001 11:20 PM

Funny Falados...

If it disappears, it's not lag, it's just your video card doesn't want to do alpha blending, most likely. I had that problem until I replaced my old ATI card for a new GeForceII.

JoMomma 03-19-2001 11:27 PM

I think he means you touch a sign and... you get nothing! Not even "This sign intentionally left blank"

Admins 03-22-2001 07:50 AM

Yes signs are server-side, because
some informations are only available
server-side
like how many crafted gems you have.
So when you go on top of the blue house
where you craft gems and you touch the stones
there then the server reads the sign,
replaces the message codes with their
correct value, then sends it to the player.
This can lag sometimes, like loading a level
can lag.

yes

yes thats probably why :)

K-Dawg 03-25-2001 08:55 PM

sniperjoe10 04-11-2001 01:15 AM

Fai 04-11-2001 09:30 AM

milotheman 04-22-2001 06:37 AM

99.5% of all the signs are static (not changing). For the 0.5% you can use serverside scripts and say2. You don't need to lag every sign because of this.

I was going to say something like that, but you beat me to it :(

Tyhm 11-02-2002 02:52 AM

Maybe because it's still pertinent?

I had my reasons, so that was quite a stupid post: "close/delete it"...hmm...do you think I am reviving threads because I think it's funny?

No, I want signs to be clientside again, that's why I revived the thread...maybe you were unable to understand that from my last post.

Is my english so bad or ...? I wrote why Stefan's explanation makes no sense. Because of three signs on the whole server which need to be serverside you don't need to lag all the other signs. Use say2 instead.
