A Mail System/Shops/Cooking Skill/Horses/BlackSmithing/Magic
A good way to stop all of the masses and to make RPing more realistic would be to add a mail system. Players could buy/make paper and write a letter to be taken to the post office and sent to a buddy(or their house).
I think Player owned shops semi-based on Konidas' idea about player houses, players could maybe set-up some stands that they build out of planks, and can take down the stand when they are done using it. Like a foldable table that you can put up and take down whenever you need too. Or maybe even a tent for a store. You can open your items in a store window and assign them prices, then they will be automatically placed on a shelf or table, for sale. Cooking skills should be implemented, experienced chefs could own resturants and sell food with special side-effects such as increased hp or increased speed. If new cooking skills are added they shouldn't be really easy to get as with any skill, they should have some effort put in, like going to a far away place for that special ingrediant. If your a pirate and have a friend in Dustari, you could have your friend ship it to you by mail. :) Horses shouldn't run free all over the place. They should be status symbols and take effort to get. That way you'll feel more accomplished by owning one. Players should be able to tie their horse to a tree or put it in a stable when they aren't using it. Horses should also get tired after a while and need a short rest and a drink of water. BlackSmithing: Weapons and Items should be upgradeable. ;) Magic: Magicians need multiple spells, please keep that in mind. I think there should also be an npc that shows a little bit of light swirling around mages/wizards to show their power. The color and intensity could show how powerful they are. I don't mean as a weapon, I mean just as a status symbol, or just to show that they are magically inclined. That's all for now. Much more to come! :D |
i think that idea is great adn you can buy land then build and it take more that 1 person to build a house that way people and build house as a profession also and the horse thing would be great maybe even breed horses too
|
I second the idea for the Store, cuz I wanted to start one or a loong time.

Magic swirlies sounds nice...it should be an either/or choice from the outset though, you gain magic or a better sword...

HAHA I thought of alot of that along time ago but neglected to say anything about it as uh I wasnt thinking but anyway I have wanted the horses as a status symbol for along time,
once I caught 11 horses and hid them all in one spot including 4 gold horses, I checked like everyday to make sure no one had found them, then they made it so they automatically warp if stuck so they all went bye bye. |
Horses were always valuable in midieval times. When a knight would win a joust by knocking the other knight completely off his horse, he would win the horse.
If we could do competition style jousting I would wet myself with delight. Of course I doubt that is going to happen. :p |
I had a jousting npc and I killed baddies with it offline. :D

Oi, I like all those ideas! The Mail System is great, I really like it, and while I hate to be flamed for copying off Harry Potter, some people could even have carrier birds, not just owls. For the demonic two and a half century reformed demon priest on the go, of course. I really, really like the Mage Idea, and here's a little bit of refinement:
Mages/Priests glow with an aura of power, like you said. Once they get ready to train, Mages get to choose between certain elements, as much of an RP cliche as that is, but once you've attained a skill in magic, you can also begin learning some lower level spells in other spheres. The Mage Spells, could mabey even have the lights condensing into the spell itself....that would rule. Priests have to either choose between Alighnments, mabey, or possible Avatars. If we do Avatars, we must have Mytri. We must. WE MUST. Priests have some offensive magic, but are mainly just for healing and defending. Also, since the mage lights might become a strain, perhaps each kingdom sends ONLY those Mages and Priests ready to train to get these powers.....I can't wait until I'm radiating a brilliant golden/pearly aura of holy mystic energy, sasheying into my mansion, I woln't even need lights. |
As long as you set up the quests so that each player can only get the more powerful sword or magic, there won't be too many mages. ^_^

The mail idea sounds GREAT. I love it
And, if implemented, I'd become an Acolyte. ^_^ |
I like thym's Idea about Magic or Sword power. Then you could choose to be a super strong warrior. A really powerful mage. Or an inbetween type adventurer who could do some what of both but not super strong in either. Personally I'd choose sword. Just because Warrior was always my style.

Here's another cool mage idea: When you kingdom needs a big spell, the Kingdom's Head Mages, (might need a flag or something) go to a great big monalith for that kingdom, like say a Stone Circle for Dustari, a shimmering circular pool for Zormite, a great big old oak tree for Forest, etc. When in the Circle, the Head of the Kingdom's mages get to choose the spell they're going to cast, and it might take tons and tons of mana to cast, or even some other things like Mana Crystals. The Spells you can choose from would effect entire Kingdoms, like Dustari could cast a spell that rains fire down upon opponents, Samurai could make all their lands grow things twice as fast, Zormite could make it so no boats can land on the island, and each kingdom would have about three choices. Also, since they're so powerful they drain mana from all people until they have the needed amount.....like, if the Head Mages in the Circle don't have enough power, they need to get more people to stand in the circle until they have the needed mana.

That could be cool...

Great ideas, even better if they can be somehow implemented onto some servers...
Mail system makes perfect sense, but I would truly miss the simple PMing features. We can go all out and change everything like say you have to cough up some cash to eat or else you die of hunger eventually, and you need to bind your lifeforce to certain altars so you can revive, or else you stay dead until someone revives/heals you with magic. And to have events/events team make more sense, call the events team the lords of the dreamworld, where players who sleep can participate in mini-games/games (I think Godspeed came up with this, but I didn't come up with this particular idea) and the ET can affect/organize certain events in "real-time." With sword, it can be remade so that if your AP drops below 30, your sword's durability will decreases with each attack/kill and it will "break" after a time; you can take it to a smith to get it repaired for a price or some labor after you gain a certain amount of AP, or else they get scared of your murderous ways and they won't open the shop for you. Most importantly, a buddy questing system would be nice, one that WORKS instead of just a randomly organized party. Say you want to work with a friend, you guys link up and have to watch each other's backs and can't backstab each other. Maybe bonuses for getting the most amount of quests done while still in the same party. |
