Jump and shout, 2k2 is out.

So what do you think of it?

konidias 05-20-2002 01:17 PM

I like it better than it was in the last preview. I like the new ground tiles, although the shallow part of the water seems a bit bright... maybe it's just my monitor.

The world is huge, I wish there were some signs giving directions to places.. I keep getting lost in the woods and stuff. :p It's fun though, I just hope that there will be some fun stuff to do soon. I also hope that there will be people that roleplay on it, since all I saw was people wanting to know where they can get swords. Oh well, good work Stefan and crew. :)

freddyfox 05-20-2002 01:18 PM

Great, although I need to convince someone to make me a rat head.

TrueHeaT 05-20-2002 01:22 PM

i love it except for the new trees, the fact that there are way too many trees, and the new heads and hair/ lack of them

stomper_TK 05-20-2002 01:28 PM

Is it officaly out?

ZanderX 05-20-2002 01:36 PM

Oh man, I'm in love.

The music is wonderful, I may simply leave the Graal client up connected to 2k2 just to listen to the music.

Hilton 05-20-2002 01:52 PM

I'll get back to you in the morning after my dialup digests and excretes this 50mb monolith.

toad1413 05-20-2002 02:04 PM

I want it to finish installing so I can play. :(

GodSpeed 05-20-2002 02:13 PM

the music is by Bjorn Lynne, he is the composer of the Worms series soundtracks :)

So many people have gone nuts over my foot step things...heh it is very nutty :)

Boozy_Bravo 05-20-2002 02:20 PM

I am really impressed with G2k2. :)
To be honest, back in the preview from January, I had my doubts. They're all gone now though. :D
Thanks to all G2k2 staff, you've done a wonderful job. :)

Proxy 05-20-2002 02:21 PM

AlexH

Could someone post the OLD setup. The new setup is anti alex and doesn't seem to install new version for me.

Yeah, I still don't understand why there are so many trees, and why the pathways are so bumpy, when in reality, pathways are usually smoother.. yet these are just like traveling on the grass pretty much. At least they could flatten out the ground around the towns.. I mean, when is the last time you saw a town sitting on top of a bunch of lumpy hills?

I kinda like the heads and hair, just need more designs.

Actually, I've found that actual paths, like cobblestone or dirt, tend to be quite smooth and easy to walk along (unless it's up a hill!), whereas if you stray from the path things get bumpy and tiring.

Graal518 05-20-2002 02:43 PM

Graal 2002 is pretty nice. Though it would be nice if they had darkblue hair as a hair color. :(

Shiftk03- 05-20-2002 02:43 PM

I had fun beating Konidias up with snowballs then setting my characters hair so I looked like the real life Trueheat.. :D

Juron Pilo 05-20-2002 02:50 PM

I think... I WANT TO SEE IT

You thought so too! I tried getting blue hair for 5 minutes. Plus head 40 is non-exsistant. :(

Graal 2002 needs blue hair. That is all I know. Once it has that, I will be content. :)

screen_name 05-20-2002 07:05 PM

lol, i went to get on and i just selected the second one on the list like usual, but it turned out ot be 2k1, lol

2k2 is awesome

Birdbird_0 05-20-2002 07:05 PM

I'm slightly disapointed at the content.

But the graphics are nice.

w00t!! It's finally out!!

Zolrieg 05-20-2002 07:36 PM

I was impressed, but will they reset the accounts again or is this permanent? I'm slightly confused, G2k2 is really repetitive. all I see are trees, paths, and more TREES! they better have something fun to do, instead of "exploring" all the time, mini-games or group events, anything is better than nothing. again, I was pleased with the preview, good job Stefan/G2k2 Team.

konidias 05-20-2002 07:53 PM

Well, I guess adding content and things (sword for crying out loud) are coming within the next couple of days, just as Stefan said. So I'm not really complaining about content right now.

Stamina does go up. You have to stand still. =P I'm not sure but I think sleeping in beds or sitting in chairs makes it go up faster.. haven't really tested it though.

iniquitus 05-20-2002 08:11 PM

Graal2002 is looking great! (It'd be nice if we had a beter name for it ;))

Keep in mind that this is an Alpha Release-- in other words, Graal2002 is not officialy out yet, Stefan opened it up so they can finish building the basic world and make sure the NPC's don't have (too many) bugs. Complaining that there is nothing to do doesn't help anyone, sugesting future additions, or improvements for the server helps everyone :D

Lets try and focus on the positive, Graal2002 looks stunningly beautiful! I foresee Graal2002 actualy having RP instead of endless PKing. :)

(I wish I could code as good as Stefan...)

Urizen :D

UrashimaX 05-20-2002 08:53 PM

Uh... These new characters are... Midgets? :p

fugitive316 05-20-2002 08:59 PM

I think choosing a nation or whatever they are should be optional. Why would i want to join a group, when I have absolutely no clue what they are about, etc.

Maybe it would be beter if the Graal website had a page listing information on each Kingdom so people could get educated before making a choice?

_0AfTeRsHoCk0_ 05-20-2002 09:11 PM

It has exceeded my expectations
Brilliant

van_01 05-20-2002 09:13 PM

Well if i was home i could tell you how i thought it was.
Im at school. :(

Psyker 05-20-2002 09:16 PM

feh, I get a blue screen when I run graal.exe.

van_01 05-20-2002 09:20 PM

That can't be good.........

Or maybe they shouldn't be able to choose at all.

Falcor 05-20-2002 09:35 PM

My reflections:

At a glance:

After the first dissapointment i was reluctant to see how it improved. I got on and I blinked once or twice. Thinking "Hmm, this is kinda getting cool" At first i picked my gender and Kingdom then was ploped in the middle of nowhere with an oldman digging me out (one scoop, must be a powerful old man) of the ground. (how did I get here? ). I walked arond, got the bandana. Traded it for an Axe. Etc. My overall impression : Good job :)

Graphics:

What can I say but "WOW". The cartoon look is all but gone. I still like the palm trees that remind me of Escape form Monkey Island. The other trees dont fit with the Plam Trees tho and almost makes it downgraded. The tiles are outstanding when they are placed on a gmap. They almost give it a real life feel. The bodys are well down however undetailed, still look good. Hairs sometimes are lowered so I can see my bald head through the top of my hear (Catholic monk-ish style I assume)
Right here your rating is 9/10 (tweak it up a bit and it will loo great)

Music:

BOOM! as I was blown away by the soundtrack. Its outstanding work and it set a good mood for the game. I like the introduction of new music as it fades out and plays a new tune. Although the music was great, as quickly as it amazed me is how quickly it became tiresome to hear. Although the music is exceptional someting turns me away from it after an hour or so of listening to it. (Except on of the songs, I could listen to the pathway that one all day. don't remember the name)
right now I stand with a solid 8/10 because I was forced to turn off my music support because I got bored of listening to it.

Gameplay:

The Gameplay was the same as the alpha release. So I can't really review it. You can trade things and trow things. I liked that system but the acualy gameplay is slim. For an alpha release you can't expet much tho.

Overal: 6/10 (I would have given lower, but its an alpha so im lienient)

Overall:

2k is a big step up for Graal. It is a nice place to go to see eyecandy and ear candy aswell. Although their inst much to do I find myself sitting in the pub banging to cook most of the time (YES! playerhumpin is enabled +100 points!!) but its really good for an alpha and I am impressed

Overall rating: 8 / 10

fugitive316 05-20-2002 09:36 PM

Or it should be optional.

So-- They just get a random Kingdom assigned to them when they start?
