big list of improvements!

I found this text file in one of my folders a long time ago, some of the improvements may or may not have already been added, whatever. use them however you like. ;]

- Voice Chat: You should be able to communicate with other players. By right clicking on someone's nickname in the playerlist, you can select 'Voice Message' to send them a message, allowing the players to actually "talk" to one another!

- Tabs: There should be tabs at the top of the main Graal window, among these are; Game, Chat, and Options. When you click the (1)Game tab, you are brought back to the game window. You can continue playing here. When you leave this window, you automatically pause. When you click the (2) Chat tab, you're took to a new window that displays a 'chat room' and all the players can talk and communicate over the window. This would end all those meaningless mass messages. You could also voice chat here, send files, and other stuff. This would be the center of all Graal interaction! Each server would have their own chat server. When the (3) Options tab is clicked, you're brought to the options window. This is where you customize different settings and so on.

- Chat Rooms: There could be a General room, Level Design room, NPC Scripting room, Graphic Design room, PK Room, Saint Room, and so on. The server owners could edit the names and even assign admins for the rooms to keep everything under control.

- New Options: (1) There should be an option in the exe to set your character to PK Mode or Saint Mode. In PK Mode the player can PK people, but they cannot heal or kill those in Saint Mode, however they can kill other PKers. In Saint Mode, the player cannot be killed by those in PK Mode, but they cannot loot the corpse of others or PK other players. Since people would try to cheat and toggle with the options, once a mode is selected, it cannot be changed for 1 hour. (2) When you ignore someone, you won't see their toall messages. (3) Skins, the players should be able to choose skins for Graal. These will change the games feel. Ever get tired of that dull green and black? By changing the skin, this would change the baddies, state, tileset, and the program's skin. These could all be customized different ways. (4)

- Enviroment: By actually scripting something into the game itself, the free worlds and pay worlds could experience seasons and different weather patterns. For example, during the spring there are plenty of showers as well as rainfall, flowers bloom and trees begin growing leaves again, the tiles change to different tiles and it's all automated! In the summer, new plantlife and even some areas could become more dry. In the fall, leaves would fall from the trees, it would be colder and more windy. The winter would provide snow and harsh cold winds. You get the ideal.

- Programs: (1) Instead of putting all of the Graal programs into one big package, split them up into single downloads. You could download the Level Editor, Level Generator, Graal.exe, Script Editor, Gani Editor, G Memo (organize notes, account manager, etc), and other programs. (2) Improved Level Editor, instead of using MS Paint, PSP, and other paint programs. It would be much easier to just use a program that lets you select the color from a palette and sketch the map outline. You would select however many levels the overworld would be and a blank map would be generated. You could now choose the colors and then use a simple pencil or marker to draw the basic outline. Add snow, desert, and more water tiles to the Level Editor.

- Tiles: (1) Replace the lava tiles with more desert and snow tiles. The lava tiles just don't fit and they're not as versatile as they should be.

- Monster Builder: (1) There should be a built in function that let's you build monsters. There could be orc, human, elven, and other monster heads. There could be tentacles, arms, snakes, and other things to replace the arms. You could add a tail, wings, horns, claws, pincers, and such. There could be beast, human, dragon, and other types of monsters that have their own templates. The colors could be changed as well.

- Payment Methods: (1) You should be able to pay by the minute, as soon as you log onto a server, you are billed for however long you stay on. The minutes are tallied at the end of each month. This would eliminate P2P!

Free Membership ($0): Player's can play any free server in Trial Mode.
Gold Membership ($15): Player's can only play free servers, lifetime membership. Player's can play p2p worlds in Trial Mode.
Platinum Membership ($30): Player's can play both free servers and p2p, monthy subscription. This membership last for 7 months. No Trial Mode.
Lifetime Membership ($70): Player's can play both free servers and p2p, lifetime membership. No Trial Mode.

- Cache Server: There should be a server that allows players to upload their levels, scripts, graphics, and such. The files would be automatically deleted and wiped from the server after a certain amount of time.

The whole point of p2p is so graal can make a steady income to enchance their product and keep the servers online. If everyone got a lifetime p2p the steady income would become scarce.

I would GLADLY pay 70$ for a lifetime membership and I think those are really, really good ideas :)

Falcor 05-12-2002 09:18 PM

i WOUDL gladly PAY 20$ FOR IT. but its not a fair price for the company. And I don't think a lifetime p2p would be good a good idea.

thank you!

take all of the clients and players Graal gets and if they took advantage of the situation and actually paid $70 for the lifetime account then that would be a lot more money compared to what the player's pay now, Stefan and Unixmad would be loaded. I bet this would draw more players into Graal as well.

$70!!! Go back to sleep. Mabey 20-25... But NOT $70...

Mman 05-13-2002 06:46 AM

I would gladly pay 70 bucks for a lifetime p2p account, it's worth it.

Amagius 05-13-2002 07:13 AM

Right....Worth it....Also what we're you thinking! $30 for 7 months! STUPID.

OK since you can't seem to understand this is a fair price. I am talking about paying 70$ for an UPGRADED account that NEVER expires. It's worth every penny, as it is now, you pay 10 bucks more than that for 2 years (which is a major ripoff).

Moderately good ideas.

Artificial_Sweetener 05-16-2002 10:49 AM

Maybe 70 is Unreasonable..
I mean by this not for the Players, Hell no I'd be willing to pay that much for a lifetime account.
But Stefan/Unixmad won't be making anything off of it, yeah well the first few months of it.. Of course they would, But after that.. No on will Upgrade and Gradually Stefan/unixmad will go Bankrupt..

A lifetime p2p is unreasonable in my eyes. It totally blows the concept of a steady income. after the majority of the populus gets it. then the income will decrease and become almost staggering. Considering Graal isn't a well-known game like Diablo 2 (which is probably why Blizzard can do this stuff)

If there isn't gonna be a lifetime p2p then they should lower the prices. The current ones are a ripoff to say the least, I know I won't re-upgrade if I had to pay 40 bucks for a year, that's bullshit.
