Lag Problems. Suggestions Please.
Since I didn't get much of a reply in the General forums...
I'm experiencing horrid lag when I am on Graal. Regardless of the server, it lags. I am running at about, my estimate, of 3 frames per second. I am using a router, but I have it to accept the port that Graal is recieving data packages. The option to use a fixed port to download data packages is on in the options menu. I have also tried using a UDP port to recieve information, and a TCP, which I assume is the other port type that Graal uses if UDP isn't active. Anyways, the problems didn't occur until I got the latest version, 2.14. |
Take off any music crap. Sometimes sword, shield, and head images lags people make sure you pick one with low kb.

All options like such, are off. I have it so normally it would run as smooth as if it were on ice. But regardless what I do, it lags.

Jagen: How did you get your router's firewall to do that? I can't find out how to make mine do that much less find out how to access the firewall |
Find your router's Gateway IP, or regular IP, then put it in the address in an internet browser, go to it, and then it should bring up a page containing setup and such.

I've now narrowed it down to the executable file, or something that coordinates with it. The lag is now occuring in the offline mode, which didn't happen before. I neglected to check it after the new release.
Does Graal have known problems with running on a Windows XP system? In case it is needed, here are the system specs that I remember. 1: About 416 MB of ram 2: Two seperate hard drives, one with a 6 GB capacity, the other with 20 3: 420 mhz 4: GeForce2 MX 400 Video card 5: I think it is an AMD sound card I am using. 6: I am using a Cable connection to the internet. That is all I can remember at the moment. |

My monitor refresh rate is 85 hertz, I can't stand it any lower.
Graal runs fine in the offline mode, as long as I make it so when i start the computer, it checks all 416 MB of ram I have, which I wasn't letting it do before.. Unfortunately, online, it still runs slow. I'm thinking it is something to do with the router, but I'm not sure until I can disconnect it, and I don't know how. I'll ask toad, or Googi, thanks for letting me know. |
Such lag can only happen because of video card or sound card problems

Judge Spunky, is your color mode at high bit and not true color? That's usually a problem for graal.
