NPC Server?
 
The old p2p playerworlds are in the classic tab now, does that mean that all servers will get an NPC server?

Stefan already said only really good servers (scripting wise) will get NPC Servers
I don't think very many servers will get NPC Servers if Stefan actually reviews the scripts, I heard N-Pulse was getting one but they only have one good scripter (Sage Chaozu)

I am Sanstrata_NAT5, and i have done non-p2p scripting the entire time i've played. Now that we CAN use p2p, i'm going to have to learn a bit more and hope that we can get a npc server up. What are the benefits of it though?

the fact you can safely use variables so that even if everyone got off, they would be safe :)

With a NPC server, will all the pre-existing NPCs still work? It sounds like a lot of trouble to go through the server checking every NPC to make sure it will still work (and probably make some errors along the way). Also, the new script commands need to appear at the right of the NPC editing screen so people actually know what to do with the NPC server.

If you can make an assimilator to fix every Classic script in less than a day, then I'll eat my hat. It just can't be done in any effective way.

Can you give me an example of something and how it would need changed? I don't quite understand other than adding //#CLIENTSIDE to it. what else would need to happen? And if you put //#CLIENTSIDE would it no longer work w/o an NPC Server??

It needs more than that. You can't change playerrupees from the clientside anymore, or edit some types of strings. You need to write your own routines for the client communicating with the server.
