-FooL- F6 debugger online...

-FooL-

It should be a right that can be given through RC. Like

[ ] View F6 Debugger

Then we NATs could actually test our (longer) scripts without having to set debug strings... >.<

Tyhm 04-22-2002 12:20 AM

If you're sure it can't be hacked....

Nothing's unhackable.

Tyhm 04-22-2002 05:16 AM

Then it would be a bad thing

Falcor 04-22-2002 05:49 AM

if someone hacked the RC password they would be able to view the scripts anyway.

But that's stored on a server and is only lost through incompetence on the RC's part or some weird fault in the server software. The ingame debugger would be a clientside feature, and thus substantially easier to tamper with.

And NPCs aren't easy to tamper with now? Hmm... could have fooled me.

Classic Graal logic. "It's possible to tamper with stuff now, so let's make it even easier!"

Lamer RC abusers will just run off wid scripts!

Graal518 04-25-2002 01:29 AM

It would be nice if only an rc account could do it, and the 'right' can only be distributed by the owner.

Falcor 04-25-2002 03:02 AM

It would be nice if the NPCs were collected serverside like so..

client presses F65 and sends information to the server

server reads information and processes it. finds out if the acount has admin rights for it and so on. Server doublchecks if the account is acually online. and if the information was send by the client it is checking.

Server sends level npcs back to the client after everything passes the tests.

client. receives or doenst recieve information.

That way the client cannot recieve the npc codes if he doesnt have a right to them.

The NPCs are sent to the player anyway as soon as they enter the level!

Just ran a simple little test... GameTrainer 2.01 lets players view the scripts of their weapons... if they know how to do it. But, unlike F6 editor, GT doesn't let you stop a script when it runs a specific function... or check the timeout count... or show the variable values... yada yada ;-)

Falcor 04-25-2002 07:18 AM

Im saying the online F6 would have to run off of the informations you get form the server. not your client-side information.
