Oasis development snapshot

1 Attachment(s)
Well, I really don't want to post this, but I might as well since some people are starting to think Oasis is dead. This is just another development snapshot.. there is going to be a LOT changed in it, so please don't criticize it like it's finished.

The tree needs to be detailed a lot, and many things need to have color changes/fixes. I improved the detail on the door and wood on the house, I still need to fix up the bush, I might make a new one, who knows. The tree is in very early stages, and needs a lot of work, including adding grass around the base, cleaning up and detailing the leaves, as well as the trunk.

Also the sidewalk is just a tiletest, I'm not even sure I will use those tiles in that manner, and the big squares need editing because they seem to rise up too much.

So anyway, I just wanted to show the picture, and also say that Oasis is still well under development.

I have finished a bunch of sprites for the character, with many more frames to do. I started work on the system and movement. I have decided that the players can jump down small cliffs (smaller then you can currently jump down on graal) but also, be able to have a "climbing skill" meaning you will be able to climb down and up larger cliffs, for a more realistic effect (it feels like you're jumping off a 2 story building on normal graal)

I have made more tiles, and have started working on indoor stuff on the side. If stefan ever adds a transparency option for showimg, I will make shadowing for the trees and other big things.. I just wish he would make overlapping tiles already ;)

That's all for now.. I will probably post another screenshot or two in this thread eventually.

Not bad, not bad at all, the tree trunk needs a little work though, add some more shading, it looks a little flat and it should stand out some more. Re-color the bush aswell, it really don't fit with everything else.

Faheria_LAT3 02-28-2002 03:26 PM

S I L V E R:

<3 the pathways tiles which reminds me: Shadrock, we need new pathway tiles because the white ones... just dont fit on the tileset anymore ;(

Ultima_P2P 02-28-2002 03:58 PM

I'm in <3 with it already. :)

Very nice, but I think the tree trunk andthe grass patches needs some work.

Kaimetsu 02-28-2002 05:00 PM

Very nice char :)

Loriel 02-28-2002 08:45 PM

I agree, it's spiffy, especially the char :)
I'm gonna steal it as soon as Oasis gets up.

amonrabr 02-28-2002 09:26 PM

Hmmm... steal it eh?...
*goes under his bed and writes a scary plant about how to steal Oasis Characters*

Ummm... konidias... can I help you with... well I dunno... new type of cloths for characters?

vovavziggy 03-01-2002 03:32 AM

I don't see what's so bad about the trunk

master-x 03-01-2002 03:35 AM

i dont think the tree is ugly and the char is great. :)

Jinx 03-01-2002 04:26 AM

OutlawP2P 03-01-2002 04:35 AM

Very good job, especially on the house and char graphics.

_0AfTeRsHoCk0_ 03-01-2002 06:43 AM

I agree it looks excellent. I hope it's not too late to say this, but the house is a little small for the person and I think the house edges (like the roof) look a little too square... maybe add corner tiles to it

Faheria_GP2 03-01-2002 06:46 AM

the whole thing looks too cartoony :(

looks like an episode of scooby doo or something :(

Birdbird_0 03-01-2002 08:49 AM

I love it ^^

But the picture sorta makes things look flat for some reson, :(

LiVeToDiE 03-01-2002 10:20 AM

I think i just cummed in my pants looking at that. holy wowness

nyghtGT 03-01-2002 11:26 AM

Mr. Chik: AKA (Acc:Royce):
Try not to use square walkway tiles, makes the image look way to flat.;) ...Make a new gfx for the dirt around the pathway. What I think you should do because of the door problem is zoom the character smaller as he opens the door. That would rock, a gani of a person opening the door and as they approach he door the character gets smaller in size. Also maybe you could make a gani with the player looking in the window but using his hands to block out the light outside, just like when you look through a window in a house you put your hands in a "A" shape over your head to block the light so you can see. Those are a few tips and ideas. L8rz

Darkspector 03-02-2002 06:35 AM

i like it

03-02-2002 07:08 AM

Good job Konidias, I know Oasis will be good with such a talented owner.

thomasward 03-02-2002 07:52 AM

I lub it all, except as people have said about the tree trunk and the size of everything. Also those square tiles could be fixed as well. But apart from that its all great!!!

You leave Scooby Doo out of this or things will get rough.

Here's a little updated pic.. the tree has been edited some more, and also the color of the bush, the coloring of some of the stuff is a bit messed because of the snapshot (the lights on the house)

I still need to blend everything more, finish the detailing of the tree, and improve some of the other tiles, and that's just for what you can see here.

:)

alarid 03-04-2002 02:26 AM

NICe!!

Nishoku 03-04-2002 02:47 AM

The tree trunk looks fine to me, (In my opinion). The only problem i see is the grass/flowers. Everything else is great.

The leaves on the old tree were too bland, I made them a bit more colorful and started work on giving the leaves a bit of shading.. I think that part looks a lot better to me.
