Release my scripting forum!

Fact: The scripting forum and NPC Server forum combined have over three times more posts than the Level Editing forum under which they dwell. People post there every day and have made it the fourth most popular forum of the whole board, so why is it reduced to the paltry level of subforum? Scripting isn't a subskill of level making; lots of scripters don't even make levels at all. It's its own art and deserves recognition as such.

NPC Scripting should be a full-fledged top-level forum, with NPC Server as a subforum. If nothing else, it'll mean that only scripters become scripting mods :)

Scripting is part of creating a level. Withs npcs, and things that might/can interact with the players, you only have a bunch of tiles.

Scripts can be used in conjunction with levels, yes, but they don't have to. Things like minigames etc are their own entities, and you can't just say that scripts couldn't exist without levels because it's not even true anymore. NPC Server scripts don't need them at all because they don't all exist in any concrete location. Besides, you might as well say that there couldn't be guilds or races or anything without levels, so half the forums should be under level making.

There's no way a subforum should have three times as many posts as the superforum.

I've seen sub-forums do that before.

True I didn't think about mini-games. Those would not be part of level editting I agree.

My basic point is this: If we were going to be 100% strict on classifications then everything would be a subforum of Graal Main Forum except for Not Graal-Related. But for sake of usability etc, different areas get their own forums. Yes, you could argue that NPC Scripting and Level Making are related, but the simplest principles of inheritance say that for NPC Scripting to be a subforum as it is, it should share some traits of level making. But it doesn't. The two disciplines are completely different, they even use opposite sides of the brain. To make moderators of level editing automatically become moderators of scripting is silly, since most really good level makers aren't really good scripters (and vice versa).

Yes level editing and npc scripting are both parts of
'making content' or so

Maybe it should be like this.

Graal Editing
-- Levels
-- NPC Scripting
----NPCs Server
--Graphics

Yeah, that's true, but since there isn't a forum for making content in general, I think they should all be individual. That way it's easier to assign mods without level makers ending up as moderators for scripting forums etc.
