Graal's Framerate Disaster

1 Attachment(s)
Why o why does Graal do this to me? I know this should belong in "Bugs" Topic, but I don't care because it doesn't get enough attention there ;). Well Graal runs lets say... Slow on my 1.8 GHz Processor and the only way to speed it up? Run another app like Paint Shop Pro or Multimedia Fusion?! Umm is this a bug with the way Graal's memory is distributed or what?

James 02-19-2002 04:42 AM

Stefan reads the bugs forum more than he does this.

Graal has a lot of bugs like this, for no reason at all I guess. I have a slower and inferior (SP?) computer in every way to a friend of mines, and he strolls compared to my speed on graal. I think it's so stupid.

Faheria_GP2 02-19-2002 06:23 AM

still screenshots are wonderful for showing speed problems

Admins 02-19-2002 06:47 AM

What exactly is the problem?
For playing fullspeed a CPU with
200-300 MHz should be enough
(normal situations, when there are
50 people on the same spot then
it can even slow down some 1Ghz proz).
Normally speed downs are mainly
caused by problematic gfx card drivers

Domini 02-19-2002 07:11 AM

He probably has a pentium

XP Professional seems to lag Graal BADLY when there is more than 4 people onscreen. And this is with a system with:

600MhZ Celeron
256 Megs of RAM
RAEDON ATI 32 Meg

That is MORE than enopugh to run high end games like CounterStrike, and Command and Conquer: Renegade. Something is wrong.

[edit] Forgot to mention, this is on a cable connection.[/edit]

I don't think it is problematic GFX card drivers. My friend has a brand new Gforce mx2 with the newest drivers and it still doesn't go any faster for him on graal, he moves soooooooo slow. And has a really fast system, other games work perfectly fast on his computer, and a game like graal that seeming SHOULD take little resources, takes a lot. Diablo2 only takes 3 percent of my resources and Graal takes 14.

Heh, my comp has a:

950 mhz AMD Athlon
256 mb RAM
nvidia riva tnt2 32mb
20 gb HD

I can't run Renegade, or UT, or anything else now. Oh yeah and my registry is full of corrupt things which completely screws up everything DirectX related, and its spread like some kind of virus, my computer is completely infested with unstableness and I am going to reformat.

I wouldn't blame it on that though, I think its the hardware...

Domini 02-19-2002 07:28 AM

I have:
AMD Athlon 1800+
1024 MB of RAM
Ati Radeon 8500
Two 80GB Harddrives
HP Burner, Pioneer DVD-ROM

And more.

Aliendude 02-19-2002 07:45 AM

It's because of XP. Graal ran perfectly on my computer until I got Windows XP, same thing happened to atleast five other people I know.

Framerate slows down because of Windows XP. Grrr.. Thanks you guys for pointing this problem out.

I wanna be your gentleman.

I have XP, Graal doesn't lag at all for me, so I don't know what you oddballs are talking about.

Could be my Nvidia Geforce 2, not liking Graal. I have no idea, but it isn't that big of a deal.

There's no need for that kind of computer damnit! Makes me feel like I have a crappy computer! What do you need all that stuff for?

Warcraft III will require a very good computer if you want to use every single high res stuff x_x

What is that? And, I'm sure this game doesn't get much business. Not many people have computers with such hardwear.

Domini 02-19-2002 01:16 PM

Max Payne can kill my computer easily.

funnylinkwantsbomys 02-19-2002 04:26 PM

You didn't mention you had cable. I use phone line connection, I don't know the technicalities of cable.

funnylinkwantsbomys 02-19-2002 06:05 PM

normally i download 100 kb on graals website...maybe its because the graal server is based in france and thats along way from here

Cyberjoueur would do well to set up communication centers in other countries... but we all know that's not going to happen. ;)

funnylinkwantsbomys 02-19-2002 06:08 PM

Cyberjoueur is advancing slowly, but I doubt it will ever become a world-wide conglomerate... seeing that most staff positions are voluntary.

Time will tell.

funnylinkwantsbomys 02-19-2002 06:14 PM

if graal was based in the us i bet more people would play

It is true that Graal is more popular in the US, so it would be logical to move the sever to America, however I doubt Cyberjoueur staff would wanto move to the US.

There is always the possibility of using sattelite, however it would cost a lot to put up and to repair. Hehe, go up by spaceship every time the NPC server goes down. :D

funnylinkwantsbomys 02-19-2002 06:32 PM

lol *sees unixmad go into space because the npc server crashed* lol buttttt it isnt so expensive after its up there...because you dont need rockets to speed or slow because the speed rate and the gravity are equil so it jus floats and never gets sucked in

Costs to build it, have it launched, maintenence... it would end up costing Cyberjoueur more than they make. Well probably. I'm not exactely an expert on this sort of thing. ^.^
