First level
 

Yes, I'm going to be a hypocritical bastard and post this in the main forum for the sake of more views. I hate myself.

Anyway, I tried my hand at outside levels for the first time today. It isn't finished, but I'm posting a small screen here for some tips and criticisms. It's certainly nothing special, and I borrowed liberally from existing levels, but for a first try, it ain't too shabby. Better than some levels I've seen here, anyway. :\

Personal notes: I went kind of crazy with the half-grass tiles, and it didn't pay off. I only did it because I heard a UN LAT telling someone to do it. Didn't work very well.

The house was inspired heavily by Torankusu and BARGAD, both of whom I thank and apologize to.

There's some tiling errors in the river, I'm sure. That was actually what took me the longest to do, to my surprise. I'm thinking about making a bridge go across, but I don't like the predefined one. I may just draw my own.

Go look at the Antora Police Station. I did all of that on my first try. :)

It's the building to the right of where you get snow balls.

I have no idea where that is. Oh well, I found it anyway. Spiffy. :cool:

it's nice for your first try, nice house design I suppose. try adding a lil more detail and it would rule

the bottom of the wood, don't use those (with the grass.)

Just use the piece right over it, and it'll look okay.

omfg I hate people that say

even know it's probley birdbird on another account saying it or something :(

But I am sure you have made level before this.
I'm not saying that the level is good because it's not but if you can't take the bad input by people then don't post it.

Well, kind of. Take a look at the final version of your floating house. It's not exactly the same, but certainly similar. :o

Actually, I haven't. I've made several inside levels before, but never an outside.

I had that because I wanted it to look like it was a porch, a bit above the ground. A plank of wood on the ground isn't much of a porch.

You used it on the top of the house, too.
