Which version am I from?

No, seriously. I cannot, for the life of me, recall which version I started playing Graal. Consequently, I feel ever so left out when people start bragging about how 1337 they are because they started early. So, here's a list of things I remember about when I first started. It's slightly confusing, because I left for a month or two twice. But, here goes.

1. The icon was an ugly sword thing.
2. The first menu was where you chose from a list which character you wanted to be. I would always get pissed off because I kept logging on with the noob body, since I didn't uncheck the box on the bottom.
3. Instead of playerworlds, there were gservers, and you could put the adress in to connect to it.
4. Kharlia was linked to the main world in the southern part of the world. I never played, because I got kept getting jailed for hitting an NPC. :(
5. Avalon was not an island, but located somewhere in the northwest of Graal. You had to pass through some canyon to get there. It was just south of Destiny, if I recall correctly.
6. There were no bank cards. You shot or hit the ATM thing to depost or withdraw monies.
7. A few revisions (maybe a new version?) were released when I played. One fixed a bug that let people put an asterisk in front of their name, even if the nickname didn't match the account. Some version screwed up playersays or something, so none of the quests where you had to speak would work.
8. Antago was around.
9. In the hammer place, you could go to Stefan's little tester world thing.

Sorry if some of these seem contradictory; it's hard remembering which memories were from which time I came back. <3

Ah, one more. Registering for the forums was closed, god knows why. They also weren't Vbulletins.

freddyfox 01-16-2002 10:21 PM

That would be sometime inbetween 1.35 and 1.40.

WHIPENIE4 01-16-2002 10:27 PM

[screen_name says:]

it would have to be 1.3 or earlier, the haven't released a gserver after that one

craig_bomy 01-16-2002 10:29 PM

when i downloaded graal in school it had stefans character on it with him riding a horse, whet version is that from?

WHIPENIE4 01-16-2002 10:34 PM

[screen_name says:]

the answer to that is very very broad, up to version 1.4 i think had stefan on a horse

The best way was when all the files were zipped and you just had to extract them into a directory. There was levels pack, heads pack, swords pack, shields pack, etc. I don't like the new setup.exe :(

vovavziggy 01-16-2002 11:45 PM

Ooh..analyze me...analyze me....

1.) you only had 2 weapons bomb and bow and s+d changed it
2.) there was gserver.
3.) you could choose to start gserver running off cyberjoyuer?

no ****

I was working on some house designs and clicked "Play" and the program froze, I had to close it with ctrl+alt+del

AlkarenHyralt 01-17-2002 05:18 AM

I remember most of that, when I first played, I also remember warp rings and starting in the brothers' house.

Saga2001 01-17-2002 05:54 AM

actually i agree about new level maker...it sucks hard, it keeps killing my entire level. its making me soooo mad. so i use an old version for making levels.

I started out in like 1.36. I remember when AP was the better way with Black and red names that could stay on you for almost a week, and Gold names were unheardof.
