Bomy Fighting - Should it be turnbased?

Should Koni make bomy fighting turnbased?

(Vote YES, k?)

James 01-01-2002 05:08 AM

No, even though I do like it on Final Fantasy. I do like realtime fighting action. :)

konidias 01-01-2002 05:12 AM

It's semi-turnbased.... :D

Turn-based would be kind of silly.. since the bomy could never defend if using defend takes up a turn.. I can see it now

Player 1 uses attack
Player 2 uses defend

Player 1 attacks Player 2 bomy
Player 2 takes damage
Player 2 defends nothing

:p

cshank4 01-01-2002 01:13 PM

can we all have a bomy for like a few days to see it wen it comes out or like make a quest so you can get bomys but make the quest super hard like almost impossible tough puzzles and stuff cuz there isnt nuff money on this server

grim_squeaker_x 01-01-2002 08:39 PM

ATB!
Or in other words the system the Final Fantasy games use, it is fun and perfect for online play.

So, if made like ff how would you do that while they are fighting like they get arped to an arena of sorts, becuase 99.9% graalians need to beaten with a stick myself included. And would interrupt the fight otherwise

You won't need an arena, NPC Server just keeps track of who's fighting who and you could fight anywhere. And if you do use an arena it's easy enough to make multiple rooms which check if a fight is going on or not.

cshank4 01-01-2002 10:21 PM

oh and heres a game that humans can play without owning a bomy:
BLITZBALL (play ff10 you know what i talkin bout)
also i think there should like be a tournamewnt and everyone in graal gets warped to the stadium to watch it.

konidias 01-01-2002 10:33 PM

There will be "arena" locations around g2k1.. they are just small little outdoor arenas (maybe some indoor) The players stand on the two squares and the battle starts.. all bomy pet battling zones will of course, be non-pk. The reason it has to be in an arena is because:

1. The arena has a statue that keeps track of the battling
2. The bomy pets have animations for battling and would have to be in the proper positions to make it look right
3. It would be impossible to set up a "anywhere any time" battle since that would require somehow asking another player to battle, and then having them accept it, and then stopping the problem of a gang of people that keep sending you battle requests :p

Dlaiyre 01-01-2002 11:32 PM

Stat points and level ups... yes or no?
i like the idea, although when the bomy is sold the level stats should be reset.

Yes. :)

also, brad, yeah your battles fought, battles won, and battles lost are logged. I might have it log who you lost or won against as a safety measure.

The way I'm setting up the level ups and experience will be made so that a person couldn't own two bomies on two seperate accounts and purposely lose a lot on one account so the other raised stats.. it will be kind of like spar ratings, where the bomy pet's experience increase will be calculated by the opponent bomy pet's win/loss ratio, as well as the level of their bomy compared to your bomies level.

So if you go fight someone else and their bomy pet has a low ratio, you won't get much experience.. especially if you're at a higher level then your opponent.. making it so everyone gets a chance to get good stats, even people that start way after the battling is released and there are high level pets.

Thus preventing someone from beating the same bomy over and over 100 times since the bomy that is beaten will stay at the same level and its stats will be low. (also the reason the account names of the winners and losers would be helpful to see if someone fought the same opponent a lot)

sac 01-02-2002 01:37 AM

WHEN YOU TRADE YOUR BOMY DOES THE STATS COME WITH IT OR DO YOU START OVER?

konidias 01-02-2002 01:44 AM

It would be better to have them start over I would think...

sac 01-02-2002 01:51 AM

that would suck because then we can't train our bomy to high level and sell it for high

cshank4 01-02-2002 01:51 AM

dangit i just had nuff money for a bomy and i got haxored!

Yeah well if it was like that it wouldn't be as much fun since people would just play to raise their stats up and then sell it.. which is one of the biggest problems with games like Everquest where the people sell their accounts (for real money) to people willing to pay.

edit: I can see it now.. there would be items on ebay "Uberleet naifets bomy at level 112 - starting price: 100 US dollars" :p

If I remember correctly someone already sold a bomy through E-Bay once, there were people actually bidding for it too.
Sad but true.

Most likely they would have just used stolen credit card numbers to pay for it though. :D
