Maps
This is hell, I made the world with the level gen and now I am TRYING to make the map, but when I press M I get a very crappy looking pic, and its the pic I used for the level gen, how can I make it so the big map pic looks good, not the pic I used for the level gen,
|
Step One - Put all levels in one folder
Step Two - Make a txt file and name it bigmap.txt Step Three - Delete all existing bigmap.txt (so that Graal doesn't use the wrong one) Step Four - Type in the txt file, all of the level names like this: "world_aa-01.graal","world_ab-01.graal","world_ac-01.graal","world_ad-01.graal","world_ae-01.graal" "world_aa-02.graal","world_ab-02.graal","world_ac-02.graal","world_ad-02.graal","world_ae-02.graal" "world_aa-03.graal","world_ab-03.graal","world_ac-03.graal","world_ad-03.graal","world_ae-03.graal" (Each line is one row on the map) Step Five - Save the txt file in the same folder as the levels Step Six - Double click one of the levels from the folder it's in. Don't open Graal through Training mode, it will use tutorialmap.txt instead of bigmap.txt Step Seven - Press M Step Eight - Change the image from 16 bit to 8 bit colors. |
couldn't you just let people automap it?

The black stuff is an effect of automapping. It makes the game more realistic. What I mean by that is: If the player doesn't pick up the map or it is not given to the player (setting map with NPCS), then the player will be able to create their own map based on what they've seen. By uncovering the "shroud" (black stuff), they map that area as they walk around in it. Because seriously: Is someone without a map gonna enter a place they've never explored and know where everything is? By having the player pick up the map, it's realistic. By setting upon the player entering the onlinestartlocal.graal and having it set, it's realistic because A: They have been given a map before or B: They know the layout of the world.
