I just downloaded the newest DirectX and could see light effects for the first time.

BUT they have big black blobs around them. especialy in birdbirds levels i cant see a thing for blobs.

help plz!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

iv just got a normal video card
iv never updated it since bout 98

it cant play games like command and conquer, red alert 2

i logged on about 5 mins ago and i could see all the light effects perfectly (birdbirds house :megaeek: )

but after bout 2 mins they all went back to having black blobs :(

Where do you d/l the new Directx?

Try clicking the dont use direct x thing in main options. That should work.

That would work BUT I think he wants to see light effects

yeah it happened to me so if anyone needs help with it email me at kritical5010 or talk to me on aim kritical5010 and it should fix it

Hmmm looks like the alpha blending stops working
after some minutes?

I have not had any problems with light effects until recently. The only thing I complain is that a few of my images start to blink (i.e. show then hide at a quick rate) but only when I move :D

I guess my remedy is to not move ;)

is there a solution or am i destined for no light effects for ever

no alpha = no semitransparency = bad lighting effects = your vdeio card sucks = buy new one

quite the contrary.. I got my riva tnt2 at a computershow for around $50

First, i feel VERY sorry for you, according to the info u posted, your vid card is only a 4 MB one.... mine is ancient and its a 16 MB card...

Also, a new card isnt too expensive. GeForce 2 are like $80 TOPS and they are 64 MB cards. GeForce 3 is quite expensive, but it'll last you a long time.

Your light effects arent working cause your card does suck.. Only solution = get a new card.

Hmmm my card was 100$ 3 years ago

and my card came with the computer (that i got 2 years ago)
i dont know too much about the hardware side of coms
ill stick to the software on them :)
