Gserver

I was thinking.... For people who are making new pws stefan should make a program like the Gserver from v 1.28 So the pw maker can test scripts and let staff browse around. I think this would be a good idea. :spam:  :p

no this would just give those pw's people to play free on a server that should be p2p. ask someone with ftp access to test some of ur crap.

Even though that's not always an option, I'd have to agree. People would take unfair advantage of a program like that. Also, someone would have to make it. :(

just make your pw then get it up then worry about NPCs not working with NPC Server
and im pretty sure stefan helps a lil with them anyway
and you get a txt file in FTP that explains pretty well how to script with NPC Server

I remember that.. it didn't help ME all that much. :p But it's alright, being that we're FREE again! ^^

AlexH 11-17-2001 08:36 AM

it helped me a good bit
i mean i suppose it could be better but its ok for a basic tutorial

It was far better than nothing, but we never did master it. lol

AlexH 11-17-2001 08:41 AM

yea it was kinda hard
the best way for a NEW p2p server to work would be to make all their NPCs to workoffline first
save them so you always have a backup
then get a hold of the txt file and try to convert them
then get a p2p server owner to test your NPC out online to see if it works
if your lucky enough to be able to get all that and are able to script with NPC Server your off to a great start

Yeah, that would be a great idea.. I just don't know how ideal it would be. Sometimes it's not easy to get that kind of cooperation. =/

AlexH 11-17-2001 08:55 AM

yea but you dont give them FTP you just get the server owner to test them for you
i suppose its easier if you know them but its still possible without having knowing them for

True enough, I suppose... but a lot of times, 'Owners' can be harder to track down than you might think, no?

AlexH 11-17-2001 09:00 AM

well people like TB3 are almost impossible to track down
but i see SLP quite a lot
and it doesnt really need to be owner
just someone with FTP that wont steal your scripts and put them on the server

Aye, there's the rub. (To quote Shakespeare.) How do you know who you can trust? :p Agent Mulder seems to recommend trusting no one.

James 11-17-2001 12:48 PM

bad idea

Sigla 11-17-2001 01:04 PM

Trusting no one?

royce 11-17-2001 11:53 PM

ya cant trust anyone these days...the pilots that flew the planes were convinced that the arabs were pilots and they have been training. so the pilots let them look around in a "REAL" ****pit. And those guys were working out in a gym about 30 minutes away from me too. very scary.

royce 11-17-2001 11:54 PM

and not only did this cause danger to the passengers but to the surrounding enviroment also...this is just a analagy or w/e..

Well, I was just trying to say that if people can get away with something and it puts them at an advantage, most of the time, they'll do it without thinking twice.
