StoneColdRichie 03-12-2001 06:32 AM

I was bored, so I went to "bored.com". I clicked on some java games site, and at the bottom of that site was a link to "cyberjoueur" and it said something about "Graal", and clicked on the "Graal Online" link.

Hawk 03-12-2001 06:36 AM

ARGH

Why do you make me think like this all the time game?
*puts on hot dog thinking cap*
hmm, well. I was on the Yahoo search thing, and I put in Online Games. And then I saw "Graal" I am like...um ok....
so I went to it, and thats when it all started. *sigh*
the memories *sniff*
excuse me.

FatherDante 03-12-2001 06:37 AM

An online friend mentioned it.

GreenNamesOwnz 03-12-2001 06:38 AM

Well, I was talking to a friend, and they were like "So have you heard of graal?"
and thats how it started

Pago 03-12-2001 06:51 AM

I was on this 3D Movie Maker site, and the guy (Terry Lacombe, or somefink like that) who ran the site mentioned it in the "news" page.

That was when version 1.3 came out, so it must have been like two years ago

Tyhm 03-12-2001 06:57 AM

I actually found out about it twice.

Once, while site tech at the old high school, I caught some kid playing the ZO version after school. Tried to remember the adress, failed, never saw it again until almost a year later, I was holding down #Infoceptor on BattleNet (before they instituted locked rooms, so I had an admin bot with a list of names), AZombie /whispers me this adress for his Graal webpage, won't shut up about it so I finally go there...he had it "optimized for MSIE", meaning it uses Microsoft's bastardization of HTML, so I couldn't see a damn thing...then he wanted me to get Graal, so I did....
Then he quit playing like a week later...but that's him in the WuSeh clan quest, AZoMbIe....

Crono Illusion 03-12-2001 07:09 AM

An online friend told me about it, and then I began playing.

Asuka 03-12-2001 10:09 AM

I was playing TTO with Chronos, BaRT, Fuitad, Link64, and Kain and they told me about it. I also saw SN say something about it on TTO too.

freddyfox 03-12-2001 11:00 AM

Ahh yes... Armageddon game forums, about 2 years ago I think. I was searching around on the board for Zelda Classic. (Which allowed you to make your own Zelda 1 style games.) And it was a thread about how to waste time waiting for it to come out. One guy mentions something about a game like Zelda were you can make your own levels, so I vist the site. The rest is history

Lion'el-Jonson 03-12-2001 12:08 PM

Starcraft is fun but it's such an old game, I'd rather play something else now...

Lycia 03-12-2001 05:56 PM

PACHUKA told me about Graal. :)

grim_squeaker_x 03-12-2001 06:48 PM

I found out about Graal due to a post in the zophar.net message board. But I didn't play back then because I had a lousy dial-up connection for which you had to pay every second you were online... So let's see now I found out about Graal on about the day of the opening of destiny, I started playing Graal on the day that 1.39rev1 was released.

Lycia 03-12-2001 06:50 PM

I could've started v1.32, but I didn't pick up the first version until v1.33 rev1.

galen 03-12-2001 11:31 PM

I met a guy on ICQ who used that 'Randomly chat with someone' thing who's name was 'Shadow'. A few weeks laster he asked if I liked Zelda. When I said yes, he sent me off to ZO. Those of you who have been around for too long like myself will remember Shadow for his spars.

Lycia 03-13-2001 02:16 AM

You know, it would be interesting to ask Stefan, unixmad, and Galen how many "old" players they remember.

Also, Galen, another interesting question for you.

How did you land yourself the Game Master job?

Fai 03-13-2001 03:28 AM

I was sick from school one day, and so was my BUDDY. So I said "What are you doing?" and he said "Playing Zelda" and I said "Which one" and he said "An Online one" and I said "Where can I get it?" and he said "http://www.graalonline.com" so I went, downloaded it, signed up, but then my account wouldn't work, so it took me a month to finally think of "signing up for a new one" so I did that and got on (on another day I was sick from school), and then I liked it and stuff. Then my friend quit playing :[

SSmutz 03-13-2001 03:37 AM

a little bid told me...not really, but a friend on Palace told me about graal and i played with him on NPulse when it was a 1.28 server, but i dunno what the latest version really was, cuz at that time i didnt even know about mainserver. i found out about the official graal mainserver when NPulse became a playerworld in 1.39 (or was it 1.38?)

G_yoshi 03-13-2001 03:56 AM

I first found graal when i had found out about emulation......it was ZO on snes9x.com.......i played it twice i think, then one day i went to play it, and it was gone.........i hadn't found it again until Nov2000 when zophar.net had posted it in their news........

Zulithe 03-13-2001 04:46 AM

I found out about Graal while searching for a replacement game when Odyssey Online shut down, and my favorite MUD AoE (Age of Empyreum, a Gemstone III clone) shut down both at the same time. At mpog.com

RawPower 03-13-2001 04:54 AM

hehe

beleive it or not i was searching for some monty python stuff and Cyber Joueur came up and i fell in love with graal

Zulithe 03-13-2001 04:55 AM

Wow, I think your story is the most unusual one yet Shadrock. I saw a movie called Shadrock once, is it in anyway related to your nick?

03-13-2001 05:05 AM

I still talk to Shadow, among others, most of whom have quit playing Graal long ago.

HIC 03-13-2001 06:24 AM

I was looking for a Zelda ROM and came across it.

Lugie 03-13-2001 06:57 AM

Hmmm... well i once seen a kid playing it at school once like two years ago, and it looked totally lame. Then, about a year and a month ago, a friend whos graal alias was Dark Fox told me the site and told me what to do. so, I downloaded it and got an account, only I couldnt get on because the server had a limit... or something. the next day dark fox quit. then, a month later, after countless attempts to play online, i finally got on once, and stayed on for many hours into the night... and figured out that graal was and is a great game. the result of the month of not getting online was the basics of my NPC and level making skills. thats my story, and im sticking to it.

waar 03-13-2001 07:10 AM

in may 2000 i mass messaged my icq list asking if anyone knew of any free online games, and i got a reply about graal. i was told it is a stupid game but i tried it out and i liked it.

greezi 03-13-2001 06:56 PM

This guy at school told me. I didn't want to get it because I thought I was a bad 2D online game. Well, now it is my favourite game!

That's probably got to do with the riddle bridge of Tyhm's quest ^^

Lyndzey8000 03-13-2001 08:58 PM

hmmm

My older brother told me about Graal and I didn't really care about it then until I started playing. It was back in January 99 I think, and I think it was version 1.0. I played for about a month, then the server went down for about a month, then I started playing but was stuck in online start but I downloaded the new graal and I was one of the few newbies that made it out of online start. I don't really care what version or time I came from, I think it was 1.0 from 2 years ago, and um Pago, this quote isnt really true

"That was when version 1.3 came out, so it must have been like two years ago"

Two years ago is when I started playing which was 1.0, that came out like a year ago.

greezi 03-13-2001 09:06 PM

How old is your brother?

Hawk 03-14-2001 12:32 AM

YAY

3 years ago Lyndzey?

03-14-2001 12:43 AM

A friend told me about it.

Psyker 03-14-2001 01:26 AM

My friend told me about it.

I could've started in 1.35, but the next day 1.36 came out.

Aidoggy 03-14-2001 02:17 AM

Lyndzey8000 03-14-2001 06:08 AM

ReBBisH 03-14-2001 06:34 AM
