Why would we need a bastard sword? A skin of a bastard sword would work, just fine.

I think the bastard sword was a real sword back in the day so why shouldn't it be?

Idiot, it's the actual anme for a type of western sword. The bastard sword is a western weapon, used in the 1600s (Am I correct? I don't remember) by knights. A knights main, bladed weapon was a broadsword for horseback, but while on foot, for close range battles, they would use a Bastard sword. It's about 2 feet long, and was primarly used in close range battles.

I understand that, and think the thread title needs to be changed. But the word shouldn't be offensive in this case. It's the name, of that type of sword.
