Holidays on Era

Hey everyone if you haven't been online in the last 3 days you should definitely go check out the stuff staff have in store for the holidays! Basically you kill snowmen and they drop a common present, rare present, or piece of coal.

I'd like to discuss the idea of trading holiday items. Last year for the winter holidays the coins were non-tradeable and the winners of the event were the ones that put in the large amount of work (shoutout to chooch). Now this year I wasn't playing during Eastertime but for Halloween the tokens that people acquired from trading in body parts were tradeable. I understand there are pros and cons to each, but lets discuss and try to find the best option for the server and maybe get some insight from staff as to why things changed up.

Now with these presents we really have no idea what's going to be in them but if they serve as 'tokens' or if you get tokens from opening them then this is basically a pay-to-win holiday event, which means you don't necessary have to partake in the holiday event in order to reap the benefits. The flip side is that if people put a lot of time into the event and don't like any of the items that are revealed they can simply cash out on their tokens and not feel like they were swindled.

What do you guys think is the best way to run the holidays?

So BR.
Pay to win is always the way.

Pay to win is NEVER good. This is coming from someone who is quite wealthy most of the time. I'd like presents to be made non-tradeable. Reading all these masses of people buying and selling them makes me feel quite ill. I'd say pay to win is the worst **** on Era. People send countless masses all day long buying and selling things. It's disgusting. I want everyone to have to work for their wealth.

That's a pretty radical thought but I agree with you on mking presents untradeable. Runescape did this back in like 2005 or something and it's been successful ever since. Now instead of having something you can just cash in you have some swag from that holiday to prove you were there and that's rare. We don't have comparable playercounts of course so this concept might not transfer over very well.

Working is lame, ruins the experience, I doubt you would be playing if you had of lost every flip you didn't.

I've personally never been apart of the; "Buy things while you can and sell them later on for a ton of money" so I wouldn't know what it's like; nor do we actually know what is inside the presents, so the trade-off is a big of a risk for people buying them.

If you have to work for wealth and can't ever buy anything, then there is no point in having wealth. :(
