Era Radio
 

Hi, so i've been thinking about how Era Radio (ER) is going to be made in the new Metro map. I was hoping to make some changes so we can get more people coming into Era Radio and listening to the radio. I had a few ideas such as including the EC Instrument shop, the Battle of the Band level, and also the instrument rental all included in the same building as Era Radio. It would bring traffic and also the instrument rental could possibly bring revenue to Era Radio... Since it is a business. :D

Also I was thinking about having the graphic updated to maybe a old school boom box or possibly a iPod/mp3 player looking thing. Would be a improvement from the 1983 graphic that we currently have. But getting a Graphic Admin to respond is like....!pissed!

Last I think it would be VERY cool to have a statue room for whoever has the highest score on "/dancegame". I think players would really enjoy that.

Any other ideas would be awesome but approval to do any of this stuff is up to Admins. ^^

Disagree with this business bringing in "revenue" when in all honesty it isn't even owned by someone that takes it seriously anymore.

Why should you get free money from instrument rentals? (Stocks box of ammo; takes 1 lead) (Lends instrument, gets 2.5k)

I mean, I feel like this "business" could really be cool if it was owned by someone serious about music. I remember when ParkHeight's owned it, he would make Era raps, upload them and release them on Era Radio. He was blasting his own music, day in and day out, It was really like a music radio station because all of his lyrics were about graal lol

Once we have someone enthused owning that place, I'm sure Staff will want to do stuff with it, get more hands on, make more things for the station (talking on the microphone, etc etc) but I highly doubt it when I've seen no one on Era radio tag in the last 4 months and you (the owner) have been on it maybe twice

In rebuttal to that if I didn't care I wouldn't be trying to improve it. Also i'm on tag just about every day. But there isn't much to do since I check to make sure the radio is playing... and since it's Halloween it's on a stream. With the whole no one on tag is because there isn't any money to be made I hire people and they host for a few hours get bored and never log in again. Really the time you have to put into it to get nothing back is the problem. You can spend 4 hours hosting music for 2 people and make $0. Granted it's fun to host but after the first time like I said no one wants to do it anymore.

And yes I agree I'm not asking for "Free Money" I want a way to actually be able to profit to get people to want to host music. Cause as of right now it's seriously just me even though we have active players in the ranks.

I also thought about finding a way so players could upload their own playlists and we can play them... but the only thing I've found you have to pay for other then shout-cast which you use your own computer to stream but you have to open ports and download programs etc etc etc.

Countless opportunity's could arise with this, Battle of the Bands (Judges on the radio) etc etc

I personally don't listen to the radio because; why listen to another person host music that I don't like when I can just put my own on. Also, It's just an endless loop of the same music, I mean, if we had people on the radio, talking, freestyling, doing stupid **** that radios actually do irl, I might consider listening for the hell of it.

Also, the Radio is glitched, you leave a level it turns off, that **** is beyond annoying.

It was fixed when they updated the G2 scripts (when the server went offline for a few days) I asked 15 people to test to see if it was fixed but after about 2-3 weeks the glitch returned.

I think that the server could incorporate the Radio station with events; Battle of the Bands, DJ Competition, Best mixes, etc etc but I don't feel like it should bring in revenue.

I think that if you make being a "DJ" or "Era Radio Member" a privilege because of the ability to; Stream your voice, etc that it would be more rewarding in itself.

I even think that you could start to get interviews with people on the radio via skype, could actually become something really cool; too bad the player count wouldn't get that hyped over it.

Imagine a Radio station on iEra though (Live Streaming of your voice, interviews with the best PKers, etc) that would be amazing.
