Hard time tanking stronger monsters
Anybody else having a hard time tanking vamps, or even anything with really good items? I am currently 91 AC and here are my resistances:

Yep. I can tank Ice Fiends, but not Vamp Guards or Kvasir. I'm Brigid.
I had 89 AC when I tried, 97 with HP. Still couldn't tank Guards, let alone Kvasir. My resists: Quote:
Alisa can tank Guards & Kvasir with 87 AC and she's Diancecht. Not sure what Alan's AC is, but he can also tank, and he's Govannon. Conq and Dripz can also tank, they're both Ogma and both have under 90 AC I believe. Luke can also tank. He has 90 AC but I've seen him do it with 89. As of last night, he still has resists and granted spells from Brigid even though he's now Ogma. |
The on-going mystery. I'm not really sure what I believe about this anymore. I used to think it was a resistance thing, but I've seen people with the same resistances as mine and followers of the same deity still struggle with tanking vamps/ice fiends/kvasir.
I've been able to tank them while I was Bile, and now as an Ogma follower as well. Orcs and Archers hit me though (apparently some people can tank archers). *shrugs* My AC is 91 through holy possession, and here are my resists for those who are still interested. Quote:

Kvasir and Guards actually got buffed few weeks ago (higher WC), tanking them shouldnt be possible, unless they are blinded maybe.

I don't think you should be able to tank anything. The way GK thinks of tanking, at least. If something hits you, it should hit you. I've always disliked the WC/AC system. Being tanky should just mean taking reduced damage.

Ice Fiends are not tankable anymore. Higher AC will help you to reduce some of the damage, but full tanking like being immortal to ice Fiends is not possible.

It's much more fair now, even with 90AC Ice Fiends and Vamps can kill me in about 5-6 hits where as they weren't able to at all before Nico's update. Now there is an actual challenge and as a bonus the exp even went up, when it was pumped up already let's face it.
Great update, now I can see Deadly Maps becoming more popular. :) |
Great update! Being able to tank every monster was pretty boring :p, and actually quite demanding when you're one of the only few on the server who was able to.
My only critique, is that now simple sword/dagger melee is practically impossible. So dungeons and deadly maps pretty much become a bow/magic only scenario. It's a bit disappointing since swords and daggers are such a big part of the game. It would be nice if AC solely determined how "hard" something hits, while something like Agility level determines dodge rate or something (Not too high of a %, that would be boring). Maybe even giving the shield blocking capabilities as well (pve & pvp alike). And then Ghosthit resistance might actually be sought after if agility had nothing to do with it. |
