Two Levels | Classic Tileset

hi.

Lately I've just been playing around with stuff using the Classic tileset because that's my favourite at the moment. The first just looks really messy to me. It was a challenge to make a level only with water tiles, but I decided to add in the blue type tiles as well. The result was a lot of tile mixing and such, and the mixes don't "flow" into larger creations in my eyes. I have to think about it to see that it is what it's meant to be. The second I'm a lot happier with.

no idea what this is

Someone posted a thread a few weeks back and claimed they were working on a Classic themed GMAP; they could take some pointers from you.

I really like what you did in the first level, it is creative use of the default tileset and came together very nicely. Maybe a few tweaks to the walls could be done, but it is not necessary.

The second level reminds me of a house in Avalon on Classic. This is a very prototypical Classic designed house as the server was always known for large, grandiose houses built with default house tiles. The difference here is the combination of G2K1 style detailing on the outside.

It is nice seeing levels like this, keep up the good work.

hi again.

I finished the second level. It looks messy - too much grass?

Not bad, you totally showed some workmanship with your type of style.
On another note I need that tileset, can you post it?

nice work, i think the first level, the water looks a little too busy, other than that, really nice

I agree with maximus in the first reply, great job!
There is just one thing I don't really get, the waterfalls.
They wouldn't have different lenghts as they fall from the same hight in the same water, right?

Kamaeru 04-18-2013 04:09 PM

You would just infer that there is something there not visible to the eye (i.e. a rock under the water) just the same as the corner towers technically do not visually connect to the rest of the house except by viewer imagination.
It's not the fact that everything is done perfectly that this is a good level. It's the fact that the levels are stylish and I mean stylish in a very Classic 1999-2001 manner.

This isn't really meant to be pretty or anything, I was just playing around with the concept.

maximus_asinus 05-03-2013 08:39 AM

looks good, layers could have helped with the shadows.

Kiwi27 05-03-2013 09:28 AM

they probably would've :O. I should get around to getting gonstruct again. I kept getting problems so nearly every time I installed it I uninstalled it a few minutes later.

Haven't posted here in awhile - but I really liked the house. Reminds me of something Shaun (from Bravo, I think..) would have made.

I liked to make the outsides sort of resemble the insides more in terms of shape/size.

I like that this house is bigger and that you tried to have the whole courtyard (so I like the ideas), but I think the execution could have been better. It seems thin at parts and I find the elevation confusing.

The water level reminds me of the water temple from Old Sanstrata.

Good health!
