Joystick setup
Hi i know in v5 if you hit f3 it had options to use a joystick
can you not do that with v6 ??? if so how u set it up i got mine working some what having hard time with the directions of moving |
No, it was removed. I actually used to use it on a PS2 controller. :(
|
There is a third-party program out there called Joy2Key. It allows you to set keys to joystick buttons. Look it up.
That said, I think taking joystick controls out was a bad move. Not to mention, unnecessary. |

Now I can say that is lame. I never noticed and I have been using V6 over a year now.
|
Yeah. I don't really understand why they took out such a great feature.
|
Me either. I'm not to dissapointed about UDP being removed since I never used it (never needed to). And I only ever used a joystick (gamepad) 2 or 3 times, and never for more then an hour. But it kinda does suck they have removed some features.
|
It wasn't ever necessary, and the implementation was glitchy at times anyway. No axis support, so nothing important has been lost. I'd like to see an actual implementation with axis and rumble support, though.

There is not, I'm afraid. I'd have loved to implement a bit of rumble into some stuff I've created in the past, like my weather system.

its a extreme pro 3d joystick by Logitech
i got it to work just cant get the angles to work with the stick but got the basics done like movement, selecting items hot keys for weapons the f7 list ect i just know in v5 they had it as a feature that u can use a joystick idk y they didn't keep it wish stefan would tell |
Did Stefan actually remove functionality for gamepad support, or just the ability to change the options?
If it's the latter, you can edit the config file yourself in a text editor. |

Here's what I grabbed from my config:

There was a thread somewhere where he commented about it being removed when I asked when V6 came out. I tired to find it but couldn't.

Also, I've never experienced many problems with joypads used in Graal. And I actually prefer them over the keyboard. |
I realize that. It's however not even an issue that it's gone now, as you can just use JoyToKey, Xpadder or similar software.

Personally, I do not want to run a third party program to do the function of a program which already has what I want and prefer. |
ok maybe the feature is disable i know i like playing with a joystick or a controller then the keyboard and mouse but i have to sit there and pretty much rekey all of my joysticks buttons to hotkey's for them to work the angles it still pauses when i move but that's about it. instead of doing all of that would be nice to add the feature back and say we have detect "device name input" would you wish to pay with keyboard or "Device name input" and have all the buttons standard into the joystick so all u have to do is plug and go like flying simulators are like... even with controllers too would be really nice
example built in joystick features with keys like trigger is d button 1 is q ect the top joystick controls mouse ect then main joystick when u push up goes up ect right now graal doesn't even detects anything with joysticks or controllers u just have to hotkey the buttons on the controllers to work with graal which is lame |
I got it to work fine with Xpadder, just download and use that. bind the keys to the controls you want and it works.
|
i have it working lol logitech makes you download a program that binds keys just thing with the angles it pauses moving just think they could do it better and wouldnt have to go to all that trouble
|
I normally use a SmartJoy Adapter PSX to USB adaptor, but recently I got this puppy, and it actually uses keyboard inputs, rather than joystick ones. :D
