Critique?

I haven't touched Graal in about a year. Recently however, my computers class inspired me to come back. Soo, I made a new level. Any advice?

I really like the structure of the level you got going on like where the water/paths are placed it looks really nice.

The one thing I think you need to work on is your grass detail, you need less of the flower tile and need to use some different tiles to add the detail to your grass.

6/10 at it's current state, has a great potential to improve. Keep making levels!! You have a lot of potential.

I think that working on grass detail is not going to help you improve much.

I like that the level is seemingly purpose-driven. Run with that. Many levelers make some pretty cool stuff but it can sometimes just be an abyss that is nice to look at but doesn't offer pure gameplay opportunities. I see the path that runs through the house. Can you come up with any more nifty ideas like that, or maybe take a different angle on that? I think to practice your skills at leveling you should try to really challenge yourself to take full advantage of the tileset, and if the tile isn't there don't improvise.

Have you ever played The Legend of Zelda A Link to the Past?

Thanks to both of you! I'm aware that my grass detai is.. Lacking. I tend to just spam the flower and grass decals everywhere. I have a few levels that are better examples of details, but those were made more for certain servers or people.

Design with a purpose is probably the first advice I ever got when it came to leveling. I did this one with a couple quest ideas in mind. and to answer your question about Link to the Past- Yes. Probably my favorite GBA Zelda game. I had the lake in mind for this level, actually.

The bridge and road leading directly to the doorstep are the only elements I am not fond of. Good work and keep practicing :)

Those do seem a bit out of place, now that I look back at it. 20/20 hind sight.

Oh shiggity, I meant GBA SP. Link to the Past was great, but cannot compare to the GBA games.

A link to the past was for the snes... It was the greatest game ever so it was ported to the gba... Damn :(...

Best TLoZ game was easily Link's Awakening

I made a promise to myself a few months ago to totally buy every single Zelda game ever. Probably over winter break.

I'd have to agree with it being either Link's Awakening or Majora's Mask.

Not really. I've never even really played that one, and many haven't.

I would just like to state that your taste objectively sucks.

Also, Majora's Mask is the best one.

Thanks for all the sweet feedback, guys :)

I really like the structure on the level. The classic styles and pic1 always get my attention. Keep it up!
