Card Collecting Released
4 Attachment(s)
In March 2011 the Trading Card Game by itself was released. Now that the server is live, the whole Card Collecting aspect has been implemented. There are many small details and changes compared to the past version, so at the top of my head:
Booster packs are sold at the same Card House just north of the Orphanage/Unstick Me where the Card Game is obtained. This is how the card levels are arranged for each level booster pack: Level 1 = 2,1,1,0,0 Total level = 4 Level 2 = 3,2,1,1,0 Total level = 7 Level 3 = 3,3,2,1,1 Total level = 10 Level 4 = 4,3,2,2,2 Total level = 13 |
It's all very ugly.
The "mat", the cards. That's petty and I've enjoyed the game itself, but it just looks unimpressive. |
Very nice, are card points awarded by wins or do you earn them some other way?

I also really dig how the card game is played, it's very simple but incredibly fun. I know UN comparisons are tired, and I love Manta, but this card game is much more entertaining than UN's; UN's card game re-release lasted maybe 2 days, and then people got tired of it. I think this is the best thing Classic has going for it with its release. Now that packs and rarity have been introduced, it'll be even better. I only wish the Card Tournament was hosted more by Game Coordinators. |
Is this a graalian version of the FF8 card game? If so.. I frikken loved that game!

In answer to your question though, the weapon Trading Cards/Manual is included. There are also NPCs in various places where you can watch a battle between them. |

I have a website for the card game from when it was released (and subsequently failed due to some issues that no longer exist) but it needs to be updated. Once I find the time to do so, it'll show where to get the cards, how to use the different features, explain the basics, and give tips on how to play (pictures included).
I give Thor a lot of credit for helping to get the game released again, but let us not forget about DarkCloud (RIP) who did a fair amount of the original work. |

doesn't stand out- can you add it when they first play the game OR when they try to challenge / accept a battle?

Looks like ****.

I really don't think it looks that bad o.o What is everyone on about? It suits Classic.

The card game is a mix of FF8 and a card level/hp/mp system we devised. DC and I went back and forth on ideas for how we wanted battling to work and in the end we decided on the FF8 numeric style.
As for the visuals I made most of those cards several years back. At the time when we first started the project I believe Classic either didn't have many gfx artists or they were busy on other projects. I honestly don't remember. Anyway I'm not a graphics wiz obviously lol. I decided on a style though and went with it. Basically either creating scenes in the graal editor or taking existing scenes, screenshotting them and then cutting them down to fit the card template. The templates themselves...some cards have unique ones while others share templates. The ones that share templates were supposed to be cards of the same set (I had plans for card sets where if you had the entire set in your deck when you played of the cards they would receive a bonus points to their stats). I figured making sets would also add to the collecting aspect of the game. Not sure if that's still planned or not or if I even shared the idea with anyone but DC lol. Anyway sorry for babbling. I don't care for some of the visuals of the cards myself (Hate the conch shell card and I made it lol). But there are some I love and I think the visuals add to the character of the game tbh. But eh...maybe I'm biased lol. |

While I agree that some cards look better than others, I agree with Ducati. The style suits Classic very well and it was never intended to look like Night paid some professional artist to make all the cards.
I seem to recall Night spending hours on end trying to decide which style of a single card he liked best and did that with over a hundred cards. My memory escapes me as to exactly how many now. Its the gameplay of it that counts anyway, who cares. |
wtf u whining about they are like screenshots, what you mean they look ugly? they look as ugly as the game does... xP

lolz yeah but the res is so small so cant really do painterly cards anyways ^^
|
There's always the possibility of having special versions of existing cards with a higher level.
|
I don't mind most of the scenes but I think a lot of my templates (the border card parts) needed work lol.
|
What's really awesome is how the release of these just amazing trading cards has increased the overall player count for Classic.
