This window is really annoying
 

Is there any way to only have this window showing once. It keeps coming up every time I connect to Era and I have to wait 10 seconds to be able to walk.

Upgrading to v6 will make it go away.

When I was using v5 it only came up once then I never saw it again!

I will, once it gets released without bugs.

v6 blows atm

The only major benefit that V6 has over V5 is the Mass button.
other than that, it's worse.
Can't upload graphics with it
Can't record video with it
etc.

You can still have the mass button on v5. F3>General>options and select in game playerlist. Hit F7 and click on mass pm :D

1. The uploading issue is a problem with their script and can be fixed.
2. There are free programs like CamStudio to record video as well.

You'd likely end up with better quality with higher compression by using something other than the built-in recorder, anyway.

You can upload from v6 now. If there are any other bugs with v6 that are Era-specific, please post them here, PM me, or make a support ticket in-game.

I personally will never upgrade to v6 due to:

A. It's way laggier.
B. I'd have to get used to it.
C. v5 works just fine.
D. It probably won't be completed anytime soon.
E. I'm not gonna use it if the player-list isn't outside the client.

Thus, don't punish me for no reason; if anything add this screen for trials telling them to get gold.

A. I'd have to agree, there. Initial releases of V6 impressed me with how much smoother it was than V5. It could've been a V5 type of optimisation upgrade pre-addition of random new stuff.
B. Irrelevant. Change happens in everything. If you're unwilling to get used to change, you can't hope to run an interesting life. Everything always the same, every day, every year.
C. See A. V5 needed to be improved. It felt like it was in V6 early. Then everything piled into it made V6 worse than V5.
D. No argument from me. Feeling this way, too.
E. It already is. You can set it to be internal or external (Same with PM windows). This is insignificant in a list of reasons.

Ah, annoying players into submission. Effective.

A. It's MUCH much MUUUCH better for Macs, since v5 I always had 10FPS fullscreen, now I have 21FPS Fullscreen.
B. There isn't much difference in interface between either.
C. For you ya.
D. It already feels complete (To mac users), in fact, it feels more complete the v5 did for Mac.
E. Like TSA said, you can change the player list/other pop-ups to internal instead of external.

Jurisdiction: v6 Benefits Macs but is not fairly compatible with Windows (or Linux?!?!?)

V6 just has to overcome the major issues with players who remain on V5.

1. Performance needs to be better.
2. Playerlist needs to be feel and look like V5.
3. GUIs need to be adjusted for the new font rendering. It's kind of ridiculous it wasn't changed to emulate Windows V5's look.

If V6 doesn't meet the above criteria players are just going to be pissed off about the new client because it doesn't really offer players anything.

I haven't tried V6 in a few updates so I do hope they added external player-lists and are almost finished with it. This doesn't really change the fact that I don't feel the need to change because there's no super awesome benefits to changing, it's the same thing... don't fix what's not broken at this point.

V6 may be better for macs, but definitely not for [my] windows.

The external playerlist has been in the v6 client since before the closed beta.

It's not a case of fixing something that's not broken. v6 adds lots of new features and optimizations that scripters can use, as well as some bug fixes.

I still don't find it in my best interest to update, being that I lag far worse on the v6 client and it doesn't fit how I currently play. I've had my screens the same for 7 years... I'm not gonna get used to a new way if it doesn't benefit me.

The window should only come up once and inform players, not every time you reconnect, that's just rude. Or better yet, put something on the front login page.

Can you give me a summary of your hardware (graphics card, memory, OS, 64/32 bit, etc.)?

Also, have you tried running in the various compatibility modes, disabling Aero, running in OpenGL?—even if it's temporary it would help to diagnose the problems. I've been trying to replicate them but on every system I can get my hands on v6 runs far better than v5.

Why is this window still there and ONLY on Era... put a ****ing main news post on the login screen if it is important, don't hinder our gameplay.

My fps doesn't pass 15 on v6, I'm incapable of playing on it.

Plus I straight don't like it.

I have v5 on my laptop and v6 on my desktop

both are equally stupid when you don't pk

Rogue, I have the same problem on my desktop PC. What fixed it for me was just making the window slightly smaller, you'd have to play with it a little. That's the most I've been able to increase FPS on my desktop PC.

Doesn't mean I should be forced to use v6 by your obnoxious 10 second update window. My screen is plenty small, and already prevents me from seeing entire levels, how many more disadvantages do I need.

You're going to have to eventually whenever v5 is completely phased out. You should post in the v6 bugs thread about your FPS issues before you're stuck with them!

I've set the window to only show once now, typically on the second login. You'll probably see it once more but then you won't see it again (at least for now).

It's been brought up a lot, Stefan just doesn't seem to notice when it is.
