Idea for NPC-owned, Player-worked businesses
The Idea:
--All shops would be Owned by the NPC Server, but players could still work at them (like Speedy Pizza) --Business Levels -Each time a player is the top worker for the week, they gain a level with the business. (of course, this could be made to use an experience system, instead of a top worker of the week system, which is more granular and allows more people share in the profit, but profit share would be lower for everyone.) -Each level gives the player more percentage of the profits for the week from the business. -The highest level player in a given business is awarded the owner rank. (The owner could be given additional rewards or perks.) (And I guess by extension, that makes the second-place worker Co-Owner) --Profit Distribution -All of the money earned by a business in a week is put in the safe and divided amongst the players with levels in the business at the end of the week -Whatever percentage of the total levels in the business you have, that's what percentage of the profit you will receive. -As an example: -There are 10 people that are level 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, and 10 -That's a total of 55 levels. -The person who is level 10 has 18.18% of the total levels, therefore receives 18.18% of the profits from the business. -The person who is level 1 has 1.81% of the total levels, therefore receives 1.81% of the profits from the business. --Worker Pay -Pay is immediate -Pay does not come from business profits (like Speedy Pizza, it's just spawned.) ------------------------------ This solves the problem of Business Owner drama (Picking a business owner fairly, business owners making too much money, business owners running a business poorly, etc.) Whoever is the best worker in a business is the owner of the business, and whoever dedicates time and effort to working at a business will receive their fair share of profit. Also, if an "owner" or someone with levels in a business gets lazy, they risk losing a portion of their share in the profit. |
Do not like the idea at all, the same thing will happen, certain players getting rich and over time making it impossible for others to catch up.
imho we need to make Era new players friendly, what if Stefan ever decides to revive the PC graal? nobody would be able to play Era properly due to the large difference between the rich people and the starters |
Actually we have a very good start on a new business system being worked on in dev. The goal is to eliminate the owner and allow the highest rank to be manager. No one gets access to the safe, everything in the business is controlled through a GUI. The only thing the manager has control over is hiring new employees, when to pay employees (simple button that just pays everyone), and what items the shop sells. This way everyone only gets paid for what they actually do. Now the whole idea with allowing the manager to change guns all depends on if their business owns the licenses to produce the weapon. How will licenses be purchased? Glad you you asked, since every business usually always has money laying around, the extra money in the safe would go towards business licenses.
Obviously there is still a lot of work to be done with this. So if anyone has any suggestions now would be the time. |
Since when do you need to be rich to play Era, It´s much different from GK or Zodiac where you need good items to compete, on Era all you need is dual shotguns and you´re ready to kick butt!

So what if some complete ******* is top stocker for the day or week or whatever and gets management controls, hiring and firing people at their will just for a chuckle.

We need 0.01 freeze on our weapons. |
I remember when Era was fun, now it's all politics :[
Can't even own a business now just to have fun with some friends. |

In Jenn's business system once a business owned a license they owned it forever, but the first business to buy a certain gun license always made an absolute killing the first couple of weeks and paid for the license a thousand times over. If only 2 businesses were allowed to make handgun ammo each week then they'd have to bid against eachother aggressively to win the license, which drives up the ongoing cost of running the business and eats into the whole "pure profits" scenario. Also pay should be done instantly. There's no reason why players should have to wait and be paid manually, and instant pay gives finer control over the business. The manager should just set a prices that the business buys minerals for and the pay per item to be stocked. This way if they desperately need iron they can set the buy price for iron at $10 each and the market will respond INSTANTLY. Or if they have way too many handgun ammo stocked and not enough grenades they can change the pay for those and the stockers should switch INSTANTLY. |

Alf tried to get at me with .01 freeze handguns before.
And lost /afk |
Graal runs at 20 FPS, so the lowest amount of freeze would be .05. Anything else wouldn't really make a difference.

I especially like the idea of how managers can pay staff with a click of a button. This is how it should be run. I completely disagree with players competing for manager though.

Shuld make Era like life, base it off a country and stuff ukno. Just dunt do U.S.
