Gonstruct layer problem
I'm having trouble with gonstruct and layers, im using tileset type 1, and when i use another layer, it showed up this 1 tile throughout the whole level, so i set that tilepiece to trans, fixed that issue but u cant walk on any of the tiles on that level that has a layer, any idea how i can fix this?
Also to add in, there are 2 levels on the gmap with a layer added, if u reconnect on one of the levels, theres no issues with tiles blocking, but if you go to the other level u cant walk on any tiles... whichever level you reconnect on works correctly |
I had a lot of issues with my server and trying to add layers to use a background image system. I ended up having to remake the GMAP.

After searching for answers, i found out how to solve the issue ... kinda.
If your using a type 1 tileset, for me it was using the very bottom right tile for the "layer mesh" tile. What i mean is there was a tile repeating itsself only visible online (not on gonstruct) so if you make that tilepiece transparent it will obiously overwrite that issue. V6 fixes the tiles that merge on the layer, so thats good. The next problem is that tile blocks -.- so the only option i can think of is using a script to unblock the blocking tile. Hopefully it wont cause a lot of lag. Anyone else have a better solution? |
For the blocks on Grimecraft we use the type 1 tileset so that might be why? I don't know a lot about how the editor and layers work so I didn't really know how to identify the issue. I'm still not sure it was me doing something wrong.

most likely its using the same tile im talking about for my problem, if its blocking on your server also. I believe for layers to work properly, gonstruct needs the type 0 tileset, the old style tileset. It says to double click a trans unblocking tilepiece before creating a layer, but that dosent work for me on the tileset type 1. So it keeps defaulting to the very bottom right tile on the tilepiece for the layer background.

Has anyone else dealt with this at all? Has anyone found a solution?

ok, i finally found out something important. If 1 level on the gmap has a layer, ALL the gmap levels need to also have a layer. I believe it works the same if your using 2 layers, 3 ect. If they dont there will be issues with your trans tile blocking, and issues with images smearing, and not showing up correctly (on layer 1 or 2,3)
This is for those who use gonstruct with layers, using a type 1 tileset. Before you start making layers you need to find a tile that dosent block and make it transparent. I use psp7, its old but easy to use. To start using layers, you need you uncheck your "0" layer, add a layer (layer 1). After find your unblocking tile that is transparent, double click that tile and rightclick on the background so it replaces the entire gmap. MAKE SURE your layer 0 (or your main level layer) is unchecked and your new layer is checked! Layers can mess up your gmap and cause lots of issues. Hope this helps |
