Recover a server backup from Stefan?
Hi, I would like to recover a backup of my server I had last year. I remember I could do that by sending a ticket to the support, but I don't remember this website, and I can't even find it! Did it change? I'd like to know how I can recover backups now!
Thanks! :) |
I don't think they have backups of servers anymore...
:( |
The support center no longer exists. You can try emailing [email protected] to contact Stefan directly, but keep in mind it will probably take a while to get a response (if you get one), and probably longer to get a backup, so include as much information in the initial email as you can.
|
Perhaps you can email [email protected] (sorry if misspelled), it may be better for a global to try and contact Stefan. ^_^ Best of luck!
|
Thanks guys! I sent an e-mail to both adresses!
Now I can just hope they answer fast  |
I would also strongly suggest that you keep regular backups of the server in future (at least once a week or so) just so you'd have a spare set of content on your home computer encase any is lost/damaged and would naturally overcome the problem of requesting backups from Stefan.

Stefan/Graal dose not host backups anymore.
|
Holding him at gunpoint might work.

Server backups do still exist but as Cyan said, we highly recommend you keep a backup on your own computer if you want to quickly restore your content. Quite often backups are not entirely complete so you may have things missing.
Finding and compressing backups are time consuming which puts getting them on low priority for Stefan. If you do request one though be sure to include the server name and what account the backup was rented on since they are not stored via their server name. Also expect to wait a considerable length of time since getting it will not happen overnight. The PWA does not and can not provide backups themselves for you. |
I know, I gave all those informations already and I know I have to wait a considerable length of time, I just wanted to know if it was still possible ;)
I did have a backup but the computer which had it died :( I'll keep the backups on external hard drives next time! :noob: EDIT: Oh and Bell, are [email protected] and [email protected] the best ways of getting to Stefan? |

^_^ Knew that at least Stefan could do a backup. Don't fret, it'll happen soon I'm sure!
|
there should be a one-click total backup for server owners. as of right now, the file browser in RC does not allow you to drag out folders, only files. can get quite time consuming with many subfolders.
open source RC methinks? |

I don't know how to use gball creator. xD
|
I think there should be an addition to RC for server owners and staff with the correct folder rights to download everything into one file. weapons, classes and NPCs can be saves as .txt files, everything else saved as their own file type. It would make backups much more efficient and easy.

In all seriousness though this is just another example of where the higher-ups are trying to expand Graal and make it more accessible + profitable, and that it's always ultimately going to be developers responsibility to improve gameplay or features in the way that Chris has with that. |

The real problem is that there aren't enough Stefans allocated to Graal ;). (Although, Stefan doesn't get to avoid the blame here entirely... he should push to get more direct involvement from Eurocenter in little old PC Graal. He's in the position to do so.) |
Stefan clones, its the only resolution to this problem. Someone figure out the code.

Sorry, I've totally derailed the thread by now but I just couldn't resist the temptation. |
