What would YOU like to see on GK?
 
It seems I will be spending some time developing on GK for the rest of the summer, and other than the usual "moar dungeons/monsters!" I could really use some suggestions on what to work on.

So what would you like changed in the current content? Perhaps you'd like to see something new added? Please note that damage/ac/resistance calculations etc. is hardcoded into the Graal engine (to my understanding at least) and can not be changed much at all.

I can't guarantee I'll work on anything that's posted in this thread, but I will use it all along with older threads I come across to get a better understanding about things.

One near the top of my list would have to be a way to highlight multiple items in my inventory, and drag and drop to npc. This would make scroll/ring spawning a lot more bearable.

Also, a "buy back" feature would be nice, in case you accidentally sell something valuable.

I guess ignore this if you have no control over AC or anything, however check out pats post. I think it's the second one down, that could be a solution to people pking in pmode however it's kind of redundant seeing as there is a spar 2 levels east of bomboria.

Lords aren't so much as broken as useless, they get stuck deep within the dungeon so nobody ever uses them anymore. A few fixes were mentioned here

It's not hard-coded into the mudlib, it's controlled by script.

Not saying to do that, but something to do with Kingdoms would be cool, if you have any ideas of your own.

I'd like to see more reasonable ways to get items into the economy by any means, like the drop thread that Cubical posted, heres a simple way to flush the economy of EC's, and players can still have the long term goals of Dragon Plate, and stuff, with Tig's recent EC Shop update.

I'd also REALLY like to see more events. If you ever get a simple idea, any event added to our collection would really be nice. I'd count all of our possible set events (musical chairs, waterglass, lucky altars, raffle, etc), and it's without a doubt less than 10. (not to say the custom event system isn't pretty nice, we have a lot of possibilities with it.)

instead of removing ac altogether... remove EA's altogether and keep base ac of armors. Redo all the armors so they don't cap speed. this would greatly improve armors moving around the economy. Just give berweans a speed + something since they are supposed to be lighter. also wipe clean all armor enhancements. i would be ok with this, even with wasting many ec's on EA's as i did.

here would be a great project... just release one skill at a time.

These are just a few I looked around for, they'd probably have real immediate effects:

The Inventory, by MajinDragon
PVP suggestion that's very simple, by Cubical
Fortune Box, by Seeya
Stat Changes/Updates, by MajinDragon

Another idea is to expand the current maximum stats, of 30, to a number which would allow for more varied stat combinations on items and thus, more room for new items to move into. The benefits to current stats would need to be scaled properly with the new max so that we obviously don't get people walking around with inf weight cap or too much hp/sp/grace. The real victory would come with people never being able to get 100/100/100 (str/dex/con) but instead something like 95/89/97 or 90/93/95.

I agree stats should be scaled. The fact 30/30/30 is possible (and quite easy) is really lame.

Useless/broken spells, GK has a bunch of them. Could something be done?

Casting, currently you wait around to cast, then the animation plays, THEN the spell is triggered. Could the cast time be combined with the animation? One of the worst offenders is probably "Create Bomb"

Small/Medium/Large versions of spells basically being the same thing. Shouldn't a "Large Snowstorm" conjure a wider area spell than a "Small Snowstorm?"

Magic being worthless to level past 18 because the MP cost increases far more than any damage you'd get out of it.

Speaking of Alchemy. Instead of having to lug around 14 pots which you position strategically, fill individually with ingredients, cast alchemy, reopen each, and grab the results; could we have to it where you put multiples of the required ingredient and it spits out however many you have ingredients for. Example: Water of the Wise uses 7 waters, if I wanted to make 5 water of the wise I'd just put 35 waters in the pot and cast alchemy on it.

A way to make scrolls, blank ones that is. Instead of buying them in the shop.

Not really anything you can do but, mudlib access for Tig? :pluffy:

All these are very important. The animation for "icestorm" should take 1.7 seconds if I'm using golden sceptre.

There should be damage increase by leveling Magic, and if there isn't any, magic levels should at LEAST not increase MP usage, only making it a burden to get more magic levels.

Simple broken spells should be fixed.

I think boats used simply for travel such as the ferrys should have possible custom images, and go 150% speed, making it very viable to use the ferries rather than running through the dungeons. Trips from Santerrain to Samurai are painful.

I honestly would like to see some events similar to UN ones. UN has some awesome events, that are both unique, and fun. NPC-ran, pretty much. Easy to host. Lots of variety for hosting, and for players alike.

I don't know how hard or different the scripting is from GK to UN.. But it would be awesome to get some events like they have. I think our players would really enjoy some new events. And I know I enjoy UN's variety of events.

A purpose for kingdoms. Probably through some sort of conquest and reward system. If you really intend to work on such a project, it would be complex and certainly fill your plate for however much time you wish to dedicate.

Free to play with item mall - if the owners really need money they aren't ever going to invest into the server. GK needs more players more than anything. No players = no action.

The player count means nothing to me. I enjoy my little community. Good for GK if it increases though, I guess.

Most people want more players, more players = more activity in every aspect of gk.

Completely agreed, we need a LOT more players. I haven't had as much fun on GK as I did in a long time during the Easter months. More dungeons with places to train, believe it or not, will increase playercount. Give us something to collect and give it a time limit. One month. Then when we're spending our 31 days collecting that for epic prizes you can be creating stuff for next month. ::::)

there isn't. I tested my level 45 magic with Jompis 80 magic and it does 0 difference in damage. We were both attuned missiles, tested a few other things. I remember others testing 18 magic against Dennis' 107 magic and it's absolutely no difference.

Walls last longer at higher levels. I'm pretty sure my walls also got stronger as I levelled up?

Ah, yea, I shouldn't have said theres 0 difference in magic levels, but the only change is duration of spells. They don't do more damage, such as large bullet. I still think logically though that duration AND damage should increase, even if the damage isn't much it'd give reasoning to level magic.

I'd love to see new spells, or even a new CUSTOMIZABLE spell system that Tig could actually update, even if it would mean us losing a lot of our current spells, just re-make the staple ones, and release spells that are LEVEL 50 magic required, and INCREDIBLY hard to learn, VERY rare in the shop... seeing people using spells like that, and actually finding spells that are above level 18 magic would be fun. It's kind of disappointing that the highest level spell is 18.

I would like to see an improvement in agility levels when used for mining, the higher the agility level you possess, the more iron/coal/gold/diamond/stone you can get from the task instead of just one at a time, perhaps one at a time from level 1-20, 21-40 you may find two, from 41-60 you can find up to 3 ect ect..


This would save quite a bit of effort for those gathering lots of materials for a house, making weapons and armor, or just mining to have more agility.
