The Inventory

In light of recent changes, and the likelihood of there being another drought of updates, I propose that the inventory get some attention. It's incredibly outdated, cannot be customised (save for transparency), and ultimately a headache.

I have some suggestions of what a the new inventory could include that the current doesn't have or doesn't do well:
  • The statistics and current equipment sections need to be separated from the inventory menu and of course then be attached to another hotkey. This would better allow the next point.
  • The inventory to be completely expandable and retractable both horizontally and vertically.
  • Containers, once opened, to have their own separate window so that they may be individually expandable; thus allowing the next point possible.
  • Multiple containers can be opened at the same time, allowing for easier item transference between containers.
  • Dropping filled containers onto an npc and thereby engaging a sale opens a yes/no prompt asking whether or not the player would like to sell the entire contents of the sack.
This would allow for players to sell multitudes of items a lot faster than currently possible.
  • When stacked items are equipped and unequipped they should not fall to the bottom of the inventory.
This would be a minor issue after the expansion and retraction issue is fixed as scrolling can easily be avoided and hotkey's attached to items
  • Color customizable
  • The inventory menu should be 'on top'. Currently when a player is in-line with an item in your inventory, and you right click that item to bring up it's stats, you instead right click the player and bring up their player profile.
    This is annoying.
  • Holding the mouse over the now 1 decimal placed numbers in the statistics should bring up the accurate totals of experience and also the amount remaining until the next experience level.

These are all the changes I can think of right now that if were implemented, would be great for something so core to the gk experience.

Another well-thought idea from Majin. I've come to expect them.

I concur!

I totally agree with all of those points. I would also like to see some way of dropping stacks of items like plat. Maybe adding an option to press the right directional key to start increasing the number by 100's or something.

Maybe an 'input box' lol

Win, that is all.

Now, for the next suggestion. How do we get Stefan to update the mud? XD

Don't forget item locking like crossfire has. You could use a command like /dropall without losing items chosen for protection from accidental dropping, like god items and starter items such as the blue wizard hat and the alchemist talisman.

I would like a /drop x _______ to be made an actual command.

The program automatically checks how much of whatever item you want is in your inventory and assigns that value to x. You can drop an entire stack of something without actually knowing the exact number.

Also, a way to tell the program how specific you are being.

/drop 10 waters will drop 10 water, 10 water of wise, 10 water of sapphire, etc.

/drop 10 "waters" with the " " should only drop 10 "waters" and leave the rest of the types of water and the watering cans behind.

I agree with pretty much all of this. My suggestion for the exp screen... you could add tabs to the inventory screen so you can switch back and forth. from inventory to stats.

I would also not only like to see the inventory and bag screens be resizable... but movable. You should be able to drag the whole inventory screen wherever you want.

BigBear3 06-06-2011 08:21 PM

Perhaps somebody could make a mock-up of what this could possibly look like.

:p can't believe i missed that, moveable inv window would be great along with everything else.

The custom way you arrange your inv in size, color, placement should stay the same after every login too. It'd be annoying to have to set it all up again, i could see that happening.
