So im starting to work on learning new tilesets, and i have great ideas. but i cant seem to get the tileset to load offline :(

i use the code:

if (created) {
addtiledef tiles1.png,,1;
}

and i have checked, it is an 8bit image as needed. I moved the file to my
graal/levels/tiles directory, Am i missing anything??? please help.

You could say how you did it since other people may have the same problem.

Good point lol... My bad.

Out of frustration i made a random image and it auto saved to my graal dir
Tried using it and it worked. So offline tilesets: put it in /graal not in /graal/levels/tiles....
Similar to where tilesets were stored in older graal versions pre-gs2.

I tried doing something like this a while ago but I didn't understand what was wrong so I used gonstruct. I don't know if I am allowed to post a link to the site but google gonstruct and click on the firt link you see. It should be the gonstruct homepage.

Hey, I feel the same way but since my server is based on another tileset, I really don't have much choice. But yes I agree that the old version of the Editor is better than Gonstruct in any aspects.

You can use other tilesets with Graal Editor. However because of the lack of support for tilelayers I would strongly recommend Gonstruct as it supports multiple operating systems.

The only thing that the Graal Editor has that gonstruct does not have is the ability to press "play" which is only useful in 2 aspects. Testing things such as "sliding corners" where a player can walk over tiny tiles. And for testing GS1 which is by todays standard outdated. Other then that Gonstruct has the advantage.

I strongly recommend using the more dated programs to produce the things you need. :)
I prefer the original Graal editor, the first Graal Shop program, and a very outdated version of photoshop for file conversion and transparencies.

Why? Because I get things done quicker that way, why else?

For gfx i use paint.net an paintbrush. They are both great for this type of gfx.
