Total Member Count of Forums

I've been checking, for a week or so, the accounts that have birthdays to see how active the members of Graal forums are. I would say that more than not there are non-active members.

I was just curious if these non-active members were still counted?

It seems odd, but the "total members" number at the bottom of the screen is a little inflated.

SO why not inactivate members? I guess it would be some work to do, but most of these accounts haven't been used since 2005 or later. Maybe like a five year inactive period would send an email and tell you to update your account or something to that effect otherwise it will be un-activated?

This could also send a message to some oldbees to check out graal. Just an idea.

SELECT COUNT(*) AS MemberCount FROM Members;

Why...? What's wrong with the way it is now? Forcing a player to upgrade (or go through any "reactivation" process) to return to the forums is a good way to keep them from returning to the forums.

And the forums should keep track of them why?

I was inferring that maybe it would pull a few people back, if not what has graal really lost?

They've lost players that just might decide to come back and see how Graal is doing on the forums for the sake of Nostalgia. I can guarantee you would pliss them off beyond belief.

Many of these people have multiple accounts so they may actually still be active, just not on that particular account.

I've thought about that, but still look for yourself under Birthdays. Even if they had multiple accounts one of them would be active........ (I don't think you thought that through)

They could still look at forums for nostalgia without an account, but 5yrs inactivity is a really long time. A small simple email with a click here to remain an active member would really take that much time out of someone's day and "pliss" them off at the same time? Really?

2013 would have been way enough you know.

I also don't like the fact old members birthdays are coming up whom don't get on anymore. For about four days I was saying happy birthday to non-active people on their walls to be kindly. Then I realized they all haven't been on for more then 4 years. :C

I would still want to do it, but gave up due to the fact it shows people who necessarily do not even use the forums.

Maybe Stefan didn't think Graal would last until 2011 :p.

Why don't you remove the button for "Members List" and "Projects" while you're at it?
