River canyon

I made a simple river canyon level to see if i could.
I was trying to make it in a zelda like style and avoid too much detail, while still making it interresting, but i dont know if i succeded with that.

Soala 01-12-2011 06:04 PM

It needs a bit more detail, and I don't really like those half grass tiles everywhere (I'd rather see full grass tiles)
The cliffs look weird "compiled" like that, other than that you're off to a very nice start :)

Tigairius 01-12-2011 06:05 PM

I think it has a really nice atmosphere :) Great job. It's definitely zelda style.

iFuzzy 01-12-2011 08:18 PM

I like it too, keep up the good work.

Bell 01-12-2011 08:29 PM

It looks nice to me. Very Zelda like.

Crono 01-12-2011 08:37 PM

i'd cross that bridge

the "half grass" tiles are actually quite zelda-isque, although they did it slightly differently

SlikRick 01-12-2011 08:39 PM

Level looks really nice, but I agree with Soala about all the half grass tiles. Other then that nice job.

fowlplay4 01-12-2011 10:51 PM

id hate to have to share those paths with more than 1 person.

RegretZ 01-12-2011 10:54 PM

Hell, looks like you have good potential to me. I'd hire you. :)

12171217 01-12-2011 11:19 PM

I really like this level, well done.

DemonSpawnn 01-12-2011 11:34 PM

Very nice. :)

Codein 01-12-2011 11:37 PM

There's a definitive thing to do here - go from A to B, and you maintained a decent level of quality. Graal needs more levels like this.

Agree'd. Looking at it again, it just feels good! :)

racil 01-13-2011 12:54 AM

Thanks to all who replied. :D

I wanted the paths to be narrow but i forgot this is an mmo. The level wont be used online, but the narrowest part would not be blockable on Classic anyway. :)

RegretZ 01-13-2011 12:55 AM

Do you work somewhere at the moment?

racil 01-13-2011 01:00 AM

Ya, i work on classic.

RegretZ 01-13-2011 01:01 AM

Damn. x_x

MattKan 01-13-2011 01:32 AM

This level is great!

Fulg0reSama 01-13-2011 02:07 AM

I'm very impressed by this level. Keep it up racil.

Geno 01-13-2011 04:46 AM

I was planning on expanding and making the levels around it too. Already made one more level (to the east of the firs one). The style is a bit different since i couldn't make what i wanted with the same style as before, and i am not fully finished with the details.
The house in the middle of the level needs some imgs and i'm not sure if people can see what it is supposed to be... (Lets see if anyone can guess)

Soala 01-13-2011 11:00 PM

Looks nice, but you should use the same style for the waterfalls used on the first level, so the side water cliffs don't look that much like a tile error.
I don't know if it's actually possible to do it on that level too, but try it :)

racil 01-13-2011 11:11 PM

I did try, but i had to add a lake beneath the second waterfall and it took up too much space. :(

DemonSpawnn 01-14-2011 12:01 AM

Well, Its great. My only issue is from the right portion of the house, that is over the water, we see dark water under it, instead of the waterfall..

Kamaeru 01-14-2011 12:57 AM

Magnificent.

I think that area would look fantastic with a water wheel, which looks to be the intention anyway and definitely not just flowing water.

Moving water, twitching plants, some pro music.
Then it = Zelda.

Crono 01-15-2011 04:56 PM

looks good. consistent and zeldaisque. :)

only problem i have is with those classic cliff dividers, completely ruin it imo.

the rear view is a bit messed as well. i understand it's how they turn cliffs in zelda but when stefan and co had a field day with the tileset they didnt correctly make the cliffs so that style works. :(

Ya theres supposed to be one there. Its nice to know people can see what its supposed to be. :D
I cant make the img though. Its a bit too complex for me...

I think it looks better this way, but i agree that the tiles could be improved. Not sure what you mean with the rear view being messed up. Did you mean the lower part of the level? I tried to improve that in this version.

Eh, I mean these. I know it's the proper way to do it and that's what you're aiming for, it's just a shame this tileset doesn't look good with this style.

I like the first one you posted, but I like this one a lot better. Definately fits that Zelda mold. Hopefully you can get some of your good work up on Classic! Unless you already have? :noob:

DustyPorViva 01-17-2011 09:02 AM

Custom tiles FTW.
