Rate some junk I made?

Hey guys, I know I haven't been here in a while. I also haven't touched pixel art in a while, I made these two pieces of garbage the other day for a modern/futuristic application.

Please rate them.

the tube looks like a futuristic pepper shaker to me.

Maybe I should add some holes to the lid then. Hah. I thought it looked kind of phallic. Don't worry, it was made at request, I didn't think this stuff up.

Are they literally garbage, because the one on the right would be an awesome futuristic trash bin. Don't empty it for days and you can see the trash all mushed together inside of it.

Heh, they are whatever. The one on the right was supposed to contain some vague energy source I think. It doesn't really matter what they are for I suppose. I just wanted feedback on the shading etc.

Put something to better distinguish the domed metal top from the cylindrical metal side on the sci-fi trash bin.

They look alright, but the metal texture on the right one looks too busy, you could use way less pixels to get to the same result :)

True, but possibly at the risk of producing banding. Also, I am not really one of those "use as few colors as possible" pixel artists. IMO, if it takes me several shades of grey to get the effect I want, so be it. I will toy with it a bit more later.

Man, the graphics forum is so dead. I've never seen it so dead.

A golden version of the black one you are using?

I'm not really keen on the large blocks of color and the base appears as a gradient. However I have seen this style before, so I guess it depends on application..
