Event auto lag kicker

I think this should be removed X_X
My lag is normally around 250-350 and the limit is 360 so if I spike once I get kicked X_X X_X X_X
Heaps of Australian's play Era and are going to get kicked from events like this as well.
Or we could just increase it to 460 or something?
I just think it's unfair as if you spike once in the middle of an event you get kicked.

The ETs should be smart enough to kick someone if they are lagging so much without an auto system. Unless the main reason you added was for evote???
IDK
just increase or remove plx

Just having a cry here

They should just change the way it works, making your lag getting checked every 2 seconds and then making an average,
and if your average is too high for the total of 10 seconds it is an autokick. That is how I should make it.

Personally, I think such limits should only be enforced on trials hopefully enticing them to upgrade or something. Enforcing it on everyone, you have people who have paid who can't do jack all on Era with such tight constraints due to laziness in making a judgement call on what is seen, not some silly number the minute it goes 1 over. Ever since latency on Era got a visible numerical representation, the limitations have become ridiculous.

I once had something like this on Classic specifically for CTF where instead of actually kicking a player it would just alert the staff who's hosting the event, and only for abnormal rises of ping rather than for a set number, this would have provided evidence for removing scores in the event of a random spike or deliberate modem tapping.

I agree... I like TSA's idea about trials. Anyone want to give any other suggestions? I'll need to speak with the ETA though

As a feature, automatically removing laggy trials doesn't really make sense to me.

Assuming we all speak of the same trails... if they do lag it wouldn't even matter. Normally guests are always laggy, but they also lack any gun or skill whatsoever and chasing them around for a few seconds to kill them in a corner isn't really a big deal. I don't see how that feature would entice anyone to upgrade, or make any events better.

It's fine as-is, you should however make the limit higher if players live in foreign countries being that their baseline lag is more than likely higher. And it shouldn't auto-kick for one random spike, but continuous (5 seconds?) above the limit.

No, if you go over 360 ms you should get kicked, even if its just a spike. It should be over 250 ms actually.

jkldogg 10-12-2010 04:33 AM

People eat bullets at 200 MS + tbh. Sometimes 150 lol.

iSlayer 10-12-2010 01:36 PM

Poor trials, you guys are so mean to them.

Also xAndrewx removed it thanks to me

No..
360 is too low and 250 is ridiculous. My ping when i'm not lagging struggles to get below that. Same with most Australians and people from New Zealand.
The server box is like 134231321 miles from us X_X
