Helicopter
 

Ive notice that there is a active helicopter flying around era, will this soon be a buyable thing that you can actually fly? Would be a great idea for the future instead of cars.

It's a helicopter, you stop and go wherever you want.

I would only want to see helicopters on Era again if they came fully equipped with rockets and/or Gatling guns.

I remember when I was a noob it was my goal to raise 75k to buy the chopper at PI. When I finally raised enough money, I went to PI and they led me into the gas chamber.

Gmap needs to be expanded.
Helicopter could replace subway's[or take you places subways can't or don't]
Cars need to be faster..lot faster :3

No. Gmap needs to be smaller if anything.
Helicopters aren't needed at all and either is the subway.
Cars don't need to go faster, they're barely responsive enough to drive easily at their current speed and making them faster would probably cause onwall detection problems. Cars just aren't very useful because in most cases by the time you walk to your car you could have just walked to where you want to go.
If people are almost never using the current transport options (skateboard,etc.) then what is the point in adding more?

Era doesn't have a big enough population to support a map big enough to need all these modes of transport.

Even if the standard player base will have acces to obtain a helicopter, It wouldn't be cheap.
Dont tell me I cant tell this, its common sense if you dont want the server to be flooded with them.

Helicopters would be cool, but make them cost at least $500,000 in order to keep them exclusive.

-Make it so the only place the owners helicopter wont get towed from is the heli pad on top of his house. (yes this would involve LATing a heli pad on the roofs of helicopter owners)

-if the owner of the helicopter doesn't own a house and thus has no heli pad, his helicopter will be forever getting towed, forcing him to eventually buy one.

-Place temporary helicopter parking pads (2 hour limit or something) around the Gmap (on top of the hotel, gun point, other random businesses, and one at unstick me.

-Purpose of helicopters: Pure novelty/status symbol item. $500,000 immediately deleted from the economy + the constant fuel for helicopter also makes one hell of an economy sink.

-Obnoxious endless noise, ./wrist
-500k + house (not sewer or apartment... that leaves like 5 houses, *price doubled*), economy fix? gg.
-LATing required, *Idea Terminated*
-Because everyone who owns a house has a helicopter too!

Well if the helicopter will be the expensive, all it does it provide transportation, not transportation with a fully automatic nuke detonator attached to the helicopter.

I'm pretty sure there aren't plans to release helicopters to the general public (Don't quote me, just saying I'm pretty sure because of...) The one that is flying around at the moment reminds me of the little space ship looking thing Skyld was testing out that flew around the gmap at certain velocities, angles, etc etc etc. This helicopter has a set of destinations randomly chosen. I'm willing to bet that is all it is. A copy of Skyld's side-project being put to use with an image that fits Era's style (The helicopter rather than a space ship [Zone])

When I logged on earlier I seen it fly by. It was pretty cool, adds to the environment and setting.

Yeah, I would kind of like to see some certain things/NPCs or w/e roaming around the gmap in certain areas and stuff. Maybe some swat guys that roam around the unstick me area? I wanna go see the helicopter too

There is an easy fix to get rid of the endless noises from the helicopters.

First, find your Graal folder, click on levels, ganis, then in the search bar type in copter. You should end up with a nice list of all the ganis for the Helicopter.. Find the ones with move in the file name. Then open and delete the era_copter.wav sounds. Easy as pie, works the same way with lightsabre or any other sound you find annoying.

*If you can't get the file open, be sure to do open with and browse and find the gani editor.

We can constantly criticize all the managers we've had, but that really doesn't help anything. Instead, why don't we just put ideas into play instead of saying "I was better than he/she or he/she is the worst manager," which gets us no where.

Chris was the worst manager -- I'm so glad we ran him off the server and replaced him with Kinetaro. I wasn't looking forward to Era Dev or any of the other updates Chris was working on at all..

Having a PVR is great because if you missed something on the TV you can just rewind it and replay it.
