Graal Kingdoms Triathlon
 

I will be hosting a special Triathlon event on Sunday 29th August at 6:00pm BST which is approx 5:45pm Server Time. There is a confirmed rare prize awarded to the winner of the event. I'll only say the prize is very rare, valuable, and related to movement.

Participants will need sign up by posting their account name in this thread. Alternatively you can forum, or in-game, pm me your account name.You will also need a horse in order to compete in the horse race. Please make sure you prepare a race horse for the event. If you need help getting a horse contact me or any FAQ in-game and we'll try and assist you. Boats will be provided for the participants as well as 50 cannonballs each (you'll have to bring more of your own if you think you'll need them).
Note that while Trials are permitted to sign up they will only be able to take part in the Kart Race as trial restrictions prohibit them from the other races. There will be rewards for each separate race so trials can still benefit from the event.


Event Rules

There will be three races, you'll be awarded a set number of points based on the position you finish each race in. The winner will be the player with the most points at the end of the event. In the event of a tie for first place all those contesting the position will take part in a 3-lap kart race to decide the victor. Your position in the race will be your overall position in the event.
1st = 10 points
2nd = 8 points
3rd = 6 points
4th = 4 points
5th = 2 points
6th+ = 0 points

Any attempt to interfere with racers will be punished. For the sake of the event i urge people not to disrupt the event as races will most likely not be re-done due to their scale. Participants should also be aware that checkpoints and race leaders will be watched

Horse Race

Starting point: Santerrian
Checkpoint(s) (in order): Harmonia gate, Bomboria east gate, Hirithia gate
Finishing line: Tanarthia Gate

Must pass through each checkpoint by going through the gate. Your route between each gate is yours to choose. Failure to pass through them may result in race disqualification.

Kart Race

Starting point: Kart track blocks
Checkpoint(s): Complete 1 Lap around the track
Finishing Line: Cove Town bell

If you lose your kart on the way you can attempt to rejoin the race by grabbing another kart. Unsticking is not allowed.

Boat race

Starting point: Sea south of Bomboria
Checkpoint(s): Line represented by two parallel boats in CP waters
Finish line: Ship dock by Bomb trade

No sabotage until ships enter pirate waters. Once back into main waters sabotage will cease.
The key to winning is to keep your boat intact for the finishing straight.
Hijacking ships is not allowed, you'll have to return with your ship or not at all.
Winner is the first ship back to Bomboria that has crossed the checkpoint line in CP.

Few questions, how long will it be? can mages use /cast earth wall? can we pk if others are (BY CHOICE) in pvp mode?

Haven't timed them all though i did do a few mock runs of the kart race and it won't take too long. The event as a whole should take no longer than 20 minutes though. Which is a small price for the prize the winner will get.

I'll make it clear, even though it was already obvious. This is not wacky racers. The use of spells or any combat in the event is not allowed. The use of any will be deemed as interference and will be dealt with. The only form of combat I'm allowing is ship battles with cannonballs during the Boat event. Even that is restricted to pirate waters.

Those speed boots are 1 of a kind. So probably Elven. But they are pretty rubbish because they have no AC.

Well, he wouldn't put very rare if they were sammies. At least I hope not.

I'll try to be on, sounds like a pretty good prize can be won if I listen to rumors.

My only problem with these events is that a player like myself who is on an actually newer computer will lag horribly because Vista isn't compatible with Graal Graphics or effects. All these races are on the gmap and will involve a bunch of players, which is a peak for lagging on my computer, which I don't find fair cause I just bought this computer and I get people saying "haha wood cpu" or "go buy a new cpu" when it's brand freaking new....

I qq, not gonna participate cause I always lag on the gmap and can't possibly win.

@kale: I don't think its an amulet, unless he's not being very specific, he said it has to do with movement not speed.

Ah but speed has everything to do with movement on gk. :)
Yea i'm sorry that the event can't cater for everyone.

a sporting event that consists of three different events. IRL it's normally swimming, cycling and running. I'm doing Kart, Horse and Boat race.

I knew what it was already... Oh well, looking forward that TriathAlon event :cool:

I think it's 12:00 noon EST.

It's the timezone every EM should learn to use since it's universal for everyone (server time)

I'll confirm now the prize is - Gloves of the Archer (Dex+2)(speed+1)
Currently only 2 are active and it's arguably the third best glove for anyone to have due to it being very favorable for mages too. Low levels shouldn't be put off by the lack of AC/WC, those become irrelevant later on and you'll grow to love the freedom these gloves give.

Actually I forgot to take into account that it's currently GMT+1 because of BST so it's more like 2:00pm

BST is UT(GMT) + 1 and EST is UT-5, so they're 6 hours apart. 6:00pm BST is 12:00 noon EST, you were right the first time.

Out of the twelve that signed up, 6 appeared (which made it easier for me and the participants). Each race was long and the ending was really hard fought but there could only be one winner.

Congratulation to Shadow L. Rayleigh (IXIs_Last_Stand) for winning 1st place overall with 26 points.
He finished 1st in two races and 3rd in another.

2nd place was won by both Deas_Voice and Andre2006 with a score of 14.

3rd place was won by Felix Lionheart(cyan3) with a score of 12.

Did not get the archer gloves, But i got 5 EC, Fair enough. :)

Oh yea congrats you won the kart race lap for 3ec's :p
