Family Function.
 

I know it's nothing big, but just a fun little idea that I got from Cbk.

I think it would be cool to have a family function on Era, where you can only set your nick to [i.e] "____ Kuraiittou" if you're in the Kuraiittou family,

I know Chris had one with Vimes, so it's not impossible.

and basically the leader of the family would have some function going on like a gang leader would, he could assign who can add/remove people from the family.

And if its to much out of the way then don't bother, I'm just here for ideas.

setnick already exists.

I don't see the point if you can really just setnick...The leader would all ready have a good idea who is in the family or not.

I've been in Scelus for god knows how long and it has never been an issue to say 3 simple terms such as setnick FirstName LastName. If having a super long name with weird spelling is such a pain though, perhaps one would rethink being a part of that family which, I'm assuming since you mentioned Kuraiittou, is exactly why this thread exists.

No, This thread exists because only Kale and Chris could have Vimes in there name... which is why I was asking why couldn't we have something like that.

Doesn't mean we should create a whole entire family system when we can simply do "setnick"

They didn't have a family system functioning only for them though. It was actually a script running through a loop in a system on every player checking if anyone but them specifically had "Vimes" in nicknames. There was no special system of Family Functions about it :p

When I played with all the other Terisu the most fun part of being in a family was hunting down and killing people that tried to use our family name without permission. And threatening to blacklist them from any businesses/gangs we ran.

You don't need scripted systems to take over every aspect of gameplay for you. Enforcing things on your own terms can be even more fun, if you let it.

I'd suggest you just make a guild with the last name in it but I'm not too familiar if era has those, probably not.

Sticking to the point, it's not a system which he obviously thought you had implemented at the time that was simply restricted.

Krim, it is entirely doable but it is really not necessary at all.

A lot of things are not necessary yet they still happen.

I for one just thought it would be something nice for the players.
