Development So Far (Feedback Please)
http://img580.imageshack.us/img580/206/sampley.png
Long story short, Designing a playerworld. I'm shooting for none of the original sprites/tiles and such. This is just a sample of the sprite so far. :noob: Feedback? |
It looks a tad too bright for my eyes, but it looks good so far!
Edit: Skin is always difficult to do, so here's a better palette: http://i45.tinypic.com/2c0met.png |
It's going to be a lot of work to make all the graphics needed for a server from scratch. Don't burn yourself out.
|
It's tiny, but it looks alright I guess.
|
Thanks Soala.

The body. How's the anatomy? I'm trying to mimic the angle without making him look like a midget gorilla. I understand WhiteDragon. I've done some server development before and yeah, doing it all myself would totally burn me out. But I'll just chug along slowly til I can find some help. I've never been a big fan of..."Come join our server..." (We've got nothing done.) |
The top is coming great, but the legs look quite flat, and probably need some more "rounding".
Also, you could use the darker outlines between the arms and the body on the feet. |

Rounder, but not longer legs. Edit: His away face. http://img709.imageshack.us/img709/5716/samplebody3.png |
dunno if you're going for asian or wut, but here's a quick edit. Dunt listen to soala, he dunno wut he's doin anymoar. ( <3~ )

I like your eyes. But I think I'm going to keep him tan for now. There will be palette swaps for different skin tones later. |

I'd say you're off to a rather solid start. Although, your characters complexion/shading seems very soft (Not sure if this is what you're going for?), but in my opinion it could definantly use some fixing up. Along with that, it seems to lack a bit in contrast and shape readability, so I went ahead and did an edit on the character for you to show you what I mean, hopefully you can take a thing or two from my edit and apply it to yours.. ^^
|
Who ever said there couldn't be different skin tones? What I tried to do was to have a non-pale skin color, but the pale one is perfectly acceptable (though the outlines would still need to be a little darker).
|
So I love the details, Deceased. But not all of them. Going to work on putting some of them in. But I didn't want everyone to look superbuff. And yeah the softer tones are my thing. No blacks or straight whites...And I'm still working out the details. Like Aging or maybe even Weight classes like a Fat, Thin, Toned kind of thing. But thanks for the feedback guys :D

Lookin' good man, keep it up!

Very good progress man, and I wouldn't expect you to like all my details, after all it's you're work, not mine. I was simply giving you an idea of how I would have done it. ;) But anyways, as for the sprites.. the back seems a bit wonked in the arm/leg area as far as the shading goes. The arms look exactly like the front views when the shading for it should be reversed. And the legs look good except they could use some shading to show that they are slightly bent like the front views are. ^^ Here's an edit:
|
eager to see the sides
|
I just messed with the colors a bit.
http://img85.imageshack.us/img85/3350/42590524.png Yours on the left Edit on the right. |

I'm having trouble getting the angle right. And taking a break from shading him. Other notes, Softer eyes and I had reshaded his back last night as well. Thanks for the feedback guys. I'll have to post the design doc soon :D |
Looks nice. :)
|
nice ass!

Shaded sides :D Next update some clothes and hair styles.. |
The legs are bugging me, too short - he looks like a midget
|
I've felt they were too short, but I am shooting for the...graal angle as best as I can get.
|
The head should be higher up on the side view, probably the back view, too.
|
What do you mean by higher up? My apologies.
|
http://img139.imageshack.us/img139/1293/facialhairs.png
Beardface :D S-Sideburns, C-Chin, M-Mustache |
i want the scm, and sm and cm.
With higher up i think they mean that it should be a few pixels higher, as in a longer neck. |
Mix and match is the point :D
|
Omg, I love the beards.
And they also got Soul Patch <3. |
Incoming Mario character?
|
Right? Yeah--I just searched online til I could find an abundance of facial hair styles. Mario was a popular mustache. :D
|
Hah I bet. You need to totally make a clothed character once you get the full work of the bodies and such done.
|
Animating him at the moment. I'm hoping to get a walk/run done in the next day or so. :D Then yes, clothes.
|
Pretty cool. Anyone else feel the rubber band arms though? Feel like something needs changed with them.

No real progress. Simplified the facial hairs a little. Top row, Sideburns, Second and Third Row, Beards, Fourth and Fifth Row, Mustaches and Split Mustaches. http://img714.imageshack.us/img714/1293/facialhairs.png Not done enough with the walking to show off yet--And I have some designs for clothes. We should see some more functionality. Thanks for the Feedback once again. And Ideas? (Darn I need to post that design document.) Maybe by months end I'll buy that server, too. |
If i was you i wouldn't buy a server. Just work on testbed or find an empty server and work on that. Don't waste your money until you have alot of work done (levels, images, etc.) just my opinion.

Since the proportions of this char character are smaller than the actual Graal character, you are going to have to make a tileset with smaller proportions too correct? Is that even possible o.o? I mean it is, but I think it would be incredibly hard.
