Achievement System
Ello all, I'm proud to announce that the Achievement System has been completed and released to the world. With this system players are able to earn achievements for all things challenging or random on Unholy Nation. These achievements include easter eggs, exploration, skillful item use, sparring, events, and much much more. Below are a few screenshots showcasing the new system: Achievement System GUI Easter Egg Achievement Party Achievement Come on down and try your luck at mastering some of the many achievements available! Thanks, GK |
Make all the achievements secret. There's little accomplishment to be had with the way they're set up now, and save for the unrealistic sparring ones, most of these will be easily obtained in a few days
|
LFS must have at least 4/6 spar achieve, 1800sr min.
|
Make a list that shows ALL achievements instead of categories.
Make a list that shows all completed achievements. I got some achievement when I logged on but it disappeared so fast(yay @ graal notifying me of minor downloads) that I have no idea what it was. I didn't even know where to start looking. |
my spar rating is like... 800/350. Do I get any achievements for that?
|
I'm dissapointed we can't spend our AS on anything, really gives me no reason to collect the AS.

The achievement system sucks. Bang.

I didn't really like it at first, but it gives players something to do.
good job |

Something to do that is only going to last a few days. Hell, most people got the party achievements in 20 minutes. Make 'em secreeeeeet |
secret achievements would keep people interested for 0 days

Do what Xbox does: Hide the actual process behind getting the achievement, and only hint at what it involves.

Achievements are meant to be accomplishments. They are rewards on their own for doing something extraordinary or impressive. By going out of your way to do it, you're not accomplishing anything. Quote:
If you're specifically aiming to get the achievement and are willing to look up how to get it, then you're missing the vital part of any achievement systems: the sense of accomplishment. Personally, I don't think it should display achievements at all. There should be an unknown amount, with no way of checking which ones you don't have. When you actually do it, you get the alert, and that's your reward. Because you actually "achieved" something, not followed some stupid directions to get a virtual badge. Hell, there should be, say, 200 achievements. All hidden. Everyone gets a different combination of 75. If you've ever played Oblivion on 360, you'll know my beef with achievements. That is a stunning example of doing it wrong. It's not giving you achievements for actually doing something great, it's telling you what to do just to make you feel like you're actually seeing what the game has to offer. |

Players who want to enjoy it for all its worth will just not ask(just like most will not look up walkthrough guides for games). |
I'd personally rather see something like Dusty suggested. A brief description of the challenge, or even just a name, would be better than telling players exactly what they need to do or not telling them anything at all.
For example, consider an achievement for winning 10 spars in a row. Instead of saying "win 10 spars in a row", I think it would better as "demonstrate extraordinary talent in the sparring arena" or something cheesy like that. This way, you're still fulfilling the purpose of the achievement system (ultimately to get people to play by aiming for achievements) and not ruining the sense of accomplishment for the player. If you go 100% secret, you're losing the drive that having set goals will give a lot of players. |

This is what happens the second day when you release it.

When Delteria's Kaljun got released, with no events, no new systems, and only bugged sparring (one arena), the playercount easily hit the 100s. This is nothing special.

Yeah, I just noticed that.
Which makes the screenshot even better, Barion-era Delteria getting that kind of playercount |
