Here's what's up

Over the past week, several players have been abusing a glitch in order to spawn money. They have since ruined the economy even further. The players have all been caught and banned.

In addition to the banning of these players, it was planned to roll back1 the server to last Sunday.

After speaking with a playerworld administrator, who confirmed that daily backups were kept for Era, we began to give out certain items in events or at unstick me as compensation for the roll back. Note that all of these items would have been destroyed once the roll back took place.

However, we found out after contacted by Stefan that daily backups are no longer kept. In fact, there are not even weekly or monthly backups available. The last backup available is from April, and it would have been very difficult for Stefan to obtain and restore. We also could not justify rolling the server back over a month.

For the past several years daily server backups have been available for all servers at request from Stefan. The decision made by Stefan to not make daily, weekly, or even monthly backups was made without our knowledge.

So the situation as it stands is that many players have spawned guns or items, and there is no way for us to remove them from these players.

For this reason, the only feasible thing for us to do right now is to reset. We are working at a feverish pace on the dev server and hope to finish it in the coming weeks so that we can reset.

We apologize sincerely for this inconvenience and hope that we can get this resolved as soon as possible.

Why don't you just close the server for a few days and start reversing the trades. I had to reverse hundreds of trades because all those glitches with the mall and etc. I knew I had to do it though because a rollback would just anger most of the players

I'm all for this resolution. It'll be hard work, but better than going forward bringing plans ahead way sooner than they are ready for.

Closing the server for a "few days" and reversing trades isn't really worth it. The scale is much larger than you'd expect. Not only do trades need to be reversed to get rid of the items, but players were also dropping items at unstick me. Players also no doubt traded money for the spawned items.

I've disabled trading for now and will re-assess when I can be on later tonight.

Question, Will people who are banned for scamming/hacking/harassment/whatever be unbanned when this reset is?

I believe that Era is in need of a reset and I'm also confident that the current management can make the economy function properly.

The economy has always consisted of spawned items and cash. That's whats up! you're 3-4 years late, noob

Deas_Voice 05-27-2010 05:29 PM

bull****, you can't control economy, that's why there are ups and downs, all you can do is taxes and stuffs..

if realworld economics that works with economic of a country try to balance **** cant, why would you, a graal player, be able to do that in a game?

Remove all guns except the buyable shotgun, uzi, ak, and handgun.

Usher in a golden age.

Actually, if Era was bug free and ALL guns were sold in stores for a good price then Era wouldn't have to worry about economy. Money and guns would not be such an important object.

Yeah, almost all guns should be available to players and 80% of the guns should be a reasonable price. Also player owned businesses need to go because that's one of the things that create a huge gap between the rich and the poor.

Not really, the richest players on Era didn't own a buisness. Most of the buisness owners weren't even that rich. They also don't make that much money, 10k-20k at the most a week. And buisnesses like Dairy Hut and Dippin Donuts have a hard time making 10k a week. Player owned businesses don't seem to be a problem to me, especially with the new system coming out (if it comes out)
