Graal: Public or Private?
 

Do your friends, family members, or even co workers know that you play Graal?

I was wondering if you keep it to yourself or if you discuss it with openly to others.

For the most part I think I'm pretty open with it. My family knows I play it since my sister was the one who showed me the game. However, years ago I showed it to some from friends, but they didn't really find an interest in it. Therefore, I guess some them know, but my newer friends don't. So I guess I would put down private, even though some people know since I'm not really too open with it.

Everyone knows I play Graal! I tell my family and friends about my trolling antics on it and the forums all the time! My roommate calls it "The Bunny Game" because I was dressed like a bunny when she first sar it.

The Christmas before this past one, my best friend FOREVER <3 <3 <3 <3 came to visit for a few weeks, and I was much too addicted to avoid playing the whooole freaking time. So we played together! ^____^

I also play it in classes a lot and have hoped in the past that someone would recognize it (which, as I've recently found out, is much more likely than I thought), find out I'm Door, and be like "Like omg, YOU'RE Door? You're like the COOLEST Graal player! I can't wait to tell my Graal friends that I met you irl! Can I have your autograph?"

One day it will happen. One day...

Private about it mostly... Nobody needs to know I play this ***gy game.

My parents have no idea what I've been doing for 10 hours a day for the past 8 years.

At work they ask how I know how to program and I always mention Graal- but only if they ask. I wouldn't go around saying "I PLAY GRALS". Private?

I barely have any friends that know mainstream PC games, let alone graal. :( sad panda.

Although I know many graal friends who got positive responses using it on their resume

Yeah my family and I are virtually disconnected from each other when it comes to 99% of things.

Public. My brother and one of my friends know that I play Graal.

Kind of a mix. My family knows (my brother played for quite a few years and since quit) that I play it as well as my girlfriend. She doesn't really understand it. She constantly asks me "are you winning?," and I just say yes and she goes and studies or something.

When I used to play, way back in the days of Doomsday, I was so excited about it all that I told my friends about it, and got some of them to try it out, one of them actually started playing for a while. In my development days, I had another friend who helped me flesh out the world because he was a way better drawer than I was. (Hehe, drawer, sounds like one of Door's relatives)

These days, seeing as I only lurk the forums (though considering doing some Deving again, but not sure for whom) there's not much to tell.

But in total, I'd say public.

My parents dont have a clue what I watch or do on the computer, and I want too keep it that way. :blush:

My mom does have a clue what i watch on the computer, and that was an awkward experience...

Except for a few close friends and my family, nobody really knows that I play Graal...or any games for that matter.

If they ask, I'll tell them, but I'm definitely not going to start a conversation with it.

I'd say private. My parents know I play a game. Years ago a few friends played with me but not anymore. None of my current friends except for bffs know :p

I find playing graal embarassing. So I stopped telling people, although I dont really play it anymore. Back when I did though, only my parents knew.

More or less public. It's not like I just going around talking about graal all the time. But I'll mention it to people looking for something to play or when people see me playing it.

Though, it was my senior class project lol. While everyone spent all year studying and going to events, I made 1 level with graphics and stuff in a day or two, and at the end of the year explained how to develop on graal and showed off my level. Got the highest grade possible. lmao

I like how Graal is treated like a secret sex addiction or something. I'm not criticizing you guys, I do the same thing, but it's just funny how embarrassed most of us are.

I don't play anymore. When I did, I kept it private, though my mom knew what it was, so did my sister and cousin (he showed me the game).

I used to tell friends and family about it, but the friends I showed, except one, disliked it. Now I just talk about it with the one friend that caught on occasionally since I don't have to ask my parents to buy me Gold.

I find it funny and I'm gonna criticize everyone for it. You guys sound like Graal is some dirty part of your lives that you want to wish away. I mean, it's one thing to not talk much about gaming with a certain friend, but to actively hide a large part of your life from the majority of people you know? That's reflective of a serious inconsistency between who you are and who you want to be. Why not just accept that you are a dork online--or refuse to accept it and actually remove it from your life if you think it's that bad?

Or just keep doing what you're doing if it makes you happy. I never really could grasp the double life thing, so maybe that's the source of my complete lack of empathy regarding such issues.

People probably think Graal is embarassing, and in its current state it is :P

It's not that I hide it, there's just no reason for it to come up. I don't let people in my house because most of my friends are dirtbags and I don't feel like them going through my medicine cabinet when they go to the bathroom. Most of my friends don't have an interest in gaming, so why even mention it?

Yes well I don't care if you have nothing to do with what I posted at all!!!!!!!! I just wanted to say it to validate my own sentiments at the expense of anyone in my way!!!!!

Couple years ago:"hey man what are you playing?"

So I show them the website and they're not necessarily disgusted, but slightly interested.

Last month:"hey man what are you pla- LOL YOU HOMO"

PFFFFFFT PLEASE MAN. I go up to the ladies and they're like "Hey." Im like "Sup girls, I play graalonline, It's where the cool guys hang, Wanna ****?" AND MAN THEY'RE JUST BLUSHING AND GIGGLING because they want me. Only ***s would hide the game from the ladies or guys if your into that kind of stuff.

When I first saw graal like. REALLY long time ago, I saw those horses on classic, and .. classic. and I moved on. Then I came back and found out I could make it however I wanted, so I stuck around.
I tell people if I ask, but nobody I know is interested yet.

True dat. I am way more open with porn than graal. And i think it's because everyone can relate to porn, but not many can relate to graal.... plus porn > graal
