Prepare staff/wand

There should be a prepare wand scroll.

So you do higher dmg with magic.

Discuss.

quickshooter 03-23-2010 09:20 PM

Level your magic level.

Possible, since conventional levelling doesn't increase magic damage, why not allow prepping? That would give magic levelling a purpose past 18. Btw the spell range, 1-18 is bloody retarded; "i just hit level 18/107 i have mastered all spells possible". Could also be a scroll to lower sp cost of spells, but i don't think that should exist anyway, atleast not to the degree it is now.

mattdapimp 03-23-2010 11:17 PM

There is a lot more important stuff that needs to happen on GK than this. Good idea, but not gonna happen anytime soon.

It's not overpowered, in the sense that you can use a level 107 magic resistance scroll and most damage is nullified.

It's not underpowered either because if you don't have resistance, you'll drop like a fly in between bulletstorms and large bullet.

Jin's right, magic and the whole pvp system itself is too flawed for this now.

What good would it do right now if it was added? Make mages a little stronger here and there, but overall, not much really.

In my opinion being able to prepare a wand wouldn't solve anything at all. With the new wand system they at least have some decent stats compared to before when every wand was at base value apart from some attuned elements. To put it simply wands/staff do not need upgraded but Wizards need some higher level spells to give them a reason to level magic past 30.

I think there are just too many spells in a small number of levels. Every spell, and there's over 50, is available from level 1-18.

A good idea for spells would be to make a spell book that is organised into spell categories to filters such as "Wizard Spells"/"Priest Spells", "fire"/"Ice", or "Bullets"/"Summons" instead of using /cast to search for "summon" just to view a list of summon spells. and I agree the current spells need to spread out over higher levels with a few new addition for really high level magic. Would also be great to remove the useless/broken spells from the menu as well.

joel34 03-24-2010 04:40 PM

Or you should be able to bless a staff to a god. For example

Staff of variety of Brigid.

Blessing a staff/wand wouldn't work in the current system as all of the benefits for the blessings are made exclusively for melee weapons and not magic. All elemental/status attack types would be null and so would slay monsters.

It might work but new benefits would have to be made and implemented.

Deas_Voice 03-24-2010 05:11 PM

all good ideas in here ^^
thumps up!

Having a "main" source of elemental magic and than a sub category would be cool.

Sounds good :) anything is better than navigating though either a large list of spells or viewing them in the spell menu which is even harder.

joel34 03-24-2010 10:54 PM

If this was released, a Increase fire dmg would be cool

Or ice,earth, You name it.

attuned: element

BigBear3 03-25-2010 12:28 AM

Joel, the staff you have has many attunements on it.

Seeya 03-25-2010 09:45 AM

Perhaps we could have the basic spells, that upgrade as we level magic. could even be implemented with wisdom. (holy word, holy orb, holy wrath) If you could still use the lower level spells, this would actually show some support to players leveling there spells, not just a few grace or spellpoints.

Ya i agree

Seeya 03-26-2010 07:09 PM

but no doubt, i agree that we should be able to prep stafves (as said in game), it'd make the game MUCH more customizable for mages.

joel34 03-26-2010 08:53 PM

Ya.

Yes, after multiple other changes happen first.

Of course, has to happen.

joel34 04-10-2010 11:19 AM

bump.

kia345 04-10-2010 01:59 PM

A single basic cone, bullet, wall spell, that we upgrade to elemental/dmg as we level. Essentially 3 main spells that change with us. I'unno.
