selling items to shops-sacks

Can we make it so u can sell the lot of a sack all at once? the same way u drop all of the items out of it at once.. i mean ring shopping is rather tedious when u have 100+ rings to sell back to the shop one at a time.

can this be done or worth doing?

I support this.

Very slightly related but we should also consider removing all these random scrolls and just have 'Blank Scrolls' that can have any spell inscribed on them. The only spell scroll that should be unique is scroll of charging - used to charge wands. All spell scrolls bought from the shop are accepted by the community as blank scrolls and have only 1 use - to be inscribed. It's incredibly stupid that there should be almost 20 individual stacks of the same spell scroll (imagine a large number of blank scrolls were used to make destruction scrolls). It just makes an already flawed/tedious menu system even worse.

Are you sure you would like to SELL everything in this sack? Once sold items will not be returned.
Yes No

why would u drop an open sack to an npc? that's just not paying attention

Cubical 03-06-2010 03:33 AM

I did it with my Dual RoE's when selling rings back to a shop I learned to keep all my stuff in a sack afterwards so it wouldn't happen again but I think it should stay how it is currently because I can foresee the issues arising with allowing entire sacks to be sold one of them being ZeroHour's example.

It's sounds ridiculous, I know - but those sort of mistakes not only happen, they happen frequently. x_x

vidar 03-06-2010 04:33 AM

someone who does that seemingly deserves it. i mean ... come on.. really? it's not like it's an instant thing u have to drag and drop.. somewhere along there u gotta realise.. oh that's my sack :/ haha

Cubical 03-06-2010 04:38 AM

Sacks look the same and people get confused. However a majority of the items do not not look the same which means they are less likely to sell the items to the shop.

vidar 03-06-2010 04:56 AM

the sack has to be open ergo you will see the items in the sack. or you can mark the sack.. or you can just pay attention to what you are doing. or put in confirm command

Well I generally agree, but you don't want to (A) put them in the situation to successfully do this nor (B) say "no you're dumb" if it happens.

I'm not sure if it decreases the value of the items, but you could try converting them to gold nuggets with alchemy. This may make it much easier to sell them en masse.

i agree and i will test to see if it does lessen the profit, from HH experience i believe it lowers the value

If the margin of loss is small than it may be worth it... for both the convenience and the huge amount of time saved in selling items. This process could free up a lot of time so you can more quickly restock shops and greatly increase potential earnings.

RavenZakuto 03-06-2010 07:21 AM

so idk if its a good idea or not, but what about a sell command instead of just drag and drop...like /sell ring of fire
and so on and so on for items, so you can move through an inventory a little easier (probably fairly time consuming i guess if you have to script it for each individual item)...or the ability to mark something as garbage and any duplicates you get are marked as well then just add a sell garbage command to release it all to closest vendor

I'm sure the margin of loss is pretty great. Always thought alchemy, and the amount of value lost in the process should be magic level dependent.
