Graal Affiliation (Graal Mixtape)

Graal Affiliation: Official News thread

I figured instead of posting in the Day'n'Night thread, I'd just make an official one. I'll post updates on the mixtape's progress here.

If you've been paying attention to our YouTube channel (which I'm really unsure if I'm allowed to link), you'll know that two days ago I released a track called "Silly Willy". If you're interested in the channel, just search Graal Affiliation on YouTube.

On that note, tonight I released a track called " They Call Me "Sushi Poo" "

The following artists are planned to feature on the mixtape (open for interested artists to get on):
  • Streety
  • Jay Diggs
  • TeXaZ
  • The AfterMath

Currently in the "studio":
  • Streety
  • Jay Diggs

Pending for "interview":
  • Sizzle
  • Infamous Convoy

PM/reply if you have any questions.

Major props to Streety, he really blew everything else out of the water.

He had a huge impact and got his point across very well in this new track.
I advise anyone that hasn't heard it, and likes Hip-Hop and/or his music, to go check it out as soon as possible.

Just go to youtube, and search "Graal Affiliation".

The track isn't as good as the others, it feels too tame and produced.

Sorry, I forgot you like cell phone recorded, low quality tracks more.

I'll ask Streety if he can sound like a crackhead with down syndrome on his next track, like Era's artists.

And please elaborate when you say too tame and produced.

Why are you using racial slurs in your tracks?

Because unless they're specifically directed at somebody, with the intent to cause offense to that person's specific sensibilities, they're just words.

eg. Normally calling a skinny person fat would not be offensive and they would shrug it off. But if that person has body image issues and/or an eating disorder and you call them fat, then you're targeting them and suddenly the word that wasn't offensive before is now offensive.

Also MTV doesn't bleep it out in songs so it must be ok!

Technically Sizzle blew everyone out of the water, but he has a ****ty recording device (aka cellphone) so it doesnt sound as good. But lyrically Sizzle won.

Using racial slurs in general is inappropriate, especially in a video that's being directed to a Graalian audience. I can't really tell if he's saying "yeah ******" to just everyone listening to the song or is directing it to Era players - a server that happens to have a lot of black players (or players that pretend to be black). Either way it's inappropriate, especially if it's the latter case.

Songs on MTV attract a particular audience that are okay with hearing that kind of language; language that people typically don't use in public for a reason...

As the Manager of a server he's putting himself in a bad light by releasing profane songs at an entire server's population and two globals in particular apparently aren't very happy with the way he's handling this.

just a game bro, just a game.

SwimChao 02-24-2010 11:13 PM

The way I speak in the song isn't meant to offend anyone. There are measures throughout the verse that have specific meaning, but the profanity is honestly what's natural.

Like I said, I generally freestyle first and then write it down (which I suppose technically isn't freestyling). The way I speak in a song has to do with the way I really speak. It's influenced by where I grew up, and the type of language being used around me.

My intentions were only passive.

Words are just words. Nothing makes one word any worse than another unless you believe it is.

The overreaction with Era's challenge is more than likely the reason globals are upset, if even they are. If they're getting involved in his personal life/decisions outside of Unholy Nation (e.g. releasing rap tracks), that's just stupid and they need to stop.

HelpingAtStuff 02-25-2010 12:40 AM

Only cool thing is the kickass beat in Sushi Poo.

SwimChao 02-25-2010 04:02 AM

Sizzle has been added to the list of artists pending interview to feature on the mixtape. More details TBA.

I was also looking through the honors/stats on the Day'n'Night song on YouTube, and noticed that there was a "First embedded on - forums.toucharcade.com". Turns out Stefan used it as an example to show that "Graal's admins can also do cool things too". It caught me off my guard: see the post here.

CharlieM 02-25-2010 04:24 AM

I don't think globals have a right to be mad, what Streety does in his free time is his own decision. Hes awesome at making music about graal and that is a hobby of his, now if he incorporated the foul language as some call it, into the server globals could be mad. But he didnt.

As you know I would never do that. I'm hesitant enough to even post content pertaining to the "mixtape" on these forums.

If you consider 2nd grade rhyme schemes good, then okay.

Are you kidding me? You know how long I've been cooking up my "rhyme schemes"? 2 days.
Me, Streety, Will, etc aren't mad at eachother and nothing any of us say is personal. It's just for fun.
I mean personally if you think you can do better, lets hear it. :p

I wasn't questioning how long you have done it. I was just simply giving a rebuttal to what CharlieM said.
